Stephenie Meyer answers fans’ Questions!

Stephenie has recently answer a WHOLE lot of the fan’s questions ever since The Twilight Saga: New Moon has hit the theaters! Questions about her books to her opinion on the movies and even one about Midnight Sun! Here’s a couple of them:
What was your favorite thing about Chris Weitz and how was his interpretation of the books different from Catherine Hardwicke? – Mira N.
My favorite thing about Chris Weitz: everything. Sounds hyperbole-ish, but he’s really that amazing. If you follow along on some of the cast interviews you’ll hear the same thing over and over. We all adore Chris. I would have to say that my very favorite thing about Chris as a director, coming from my unique position, is his passion for being true to the source material. He really immersed himself in the Twilight world and came to the set with the feel of it already in his head. We were very much on the same page. Second thing, he listens really well—to everybody, cast and crew.
In comparing New Moon to Twilight, I would say that the biggest difference in style is that Chris is more classic while Catherine is a little more edgy and modern. I wouldn’t want both movies to be the same, though. I like seeing different interpretations. After all, no two people see the same thing when they read a novel. I enjoy seeing that visually.
After that, I gave up the idea of creating a fake city and just hoped the people of Volterra did not mind a few vampires. When I went to visit a few years back, all the people I talked to were totally fine with the vampires—what had upset them was the fountain. They don’t have one, and think their square is perfect without it.
Do you make any appearances in the New Moon movie? – Mandy, Captain of Official Team Jacob
Nope. I felt really awkward doing the first one, and I still have to cover my eyes for that part of the movie. I decided this time I didn’t want to do anything like that, and it never came up, so problem averted!
My question for you is…. are you at all surprised by the variety in age of your readers? I am 32 years old and absolutely loved your books, and I know I am not alone, in many discussion groups I have found there are 30, 40, even 50 somethings reading twilight. Thanks and keep writing! – Amy B.
Because I wrote Twilight for my twenty-nine-year-old self and not for a future YA audience, it always made sense to me that women my age would get it the same way I did. Are you ever too old to remember falling in love for the first time?
I was wondering what made you choose Italy for the home of the Volturi? Is there a special meaning about Italy in your life or was it a random setting? Thanks :] – Kerry K.
I chose Italy because I needed a place with a really long history. Choosing Volterra itself was a strange thing. I wrote the whole Volturi scene before I’d picked a location for it. For the first time, I was planning to create a fictional city, because at this point, I was starting to realize that people were actually going to read this book, and I was nervous about what the real life citizens of Forks would think, and more especially what the real life people of La Push would think—I’d taken some rather big liberties with their fictional history, and I wasn’t sure if they would find it amusing or irritating. So, to avoid similar moments of panic, I decided to set my clan of ancient ruling vampires in a made up place. I was going to call this place “Volturin,” and I knew it needed to be located in Tuscany about an hour or two from Florence—I’d already written the drive from the airport. I’d also already written my descriptions of the plaza and clock tower and Volturi turret. So I pull up a map of Tuscany, trying to decide if Alice should drive north, south, east, or west, and look at that—there is a city named Volterra just about an hour from Florence. So I google image search Volterra, and the very first picture that comes up is the Volterra clock tower. Chills. I called my sister (who’d already read about my fictional Volturin) and told her to go look at Volterra. She freaked, too, because she’d pictured it the same way, too. It was actually a rather creepy moment.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon Opens all over Singapore Today!!!

I felt like I was trapped in one of those terrifying nightmares, the one where you have to run, run until your lungs burst, but you can’t make your body move fast enough. My legs seem to move slower and slower as I fought my way through the callous crowd, but the hands on the huge clock tower didn’t slow. With relentless, uncaring force, they turned inexorably toward the end – the end of everything.
But this was no dream, and, unlike the nightmare, I wasn’t running for my life; I was racing to save something infinitely more precious. My own life meant little to me today.
Alice had said there was a good chance we would both die here. Perhaps the outcome would be different if she weren’t trapped by the brilliant sunlight; only I was free to run across this bright, crowded square.
And I couldn’t run fast enough.
So it didn’t matter to me that we were surrounded by our extraordinarily dangerous enemies. As the clock began to toll out the hour, vibrating under the soles of my sluggish feet, I knew I was too late – and I was glad something bloodthirsty waited in the wings. For in failing at this, I forfeited any desire to live.
The clock tolled again, and the sun beat down from the exact center point in the sky.

Twilighters! It’s confirmed! Robert and Kristen are dating as told by Catherine Hardwicke herself! For those who have The Straits Times (edit: Washinton Post and TIME magazine), flip over to the LIFE! Section and turn to page F26. For those who don’t here’s the quote from Catherine herself.
Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke said the film’s co-starts Kristen Stewart, 19, and Robert Pattinson, 23, are dating. ” I didn’thave a camera with in the hotel room,” she told time magazine. “But in terms of what Kristen told me directly, it didn’t happen on the first movie… it took a long time for Kristen to realise, okay, I’ve got to give this a go and really try to be with this person.“

IT HAS been a hectic fortnight for Twilight trio Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Kristen Stewart as they embarked on a worldwide tour promoting their wildy-anticipated movie, New Moon. You’ve seen Stephenie Meyer on Oprah. Examiner.com now has a write-up about the interview.
When she spoke about The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Meyer stated that she was most excited about the first scene she saw with the wolves. She said that the way that the film brought out the size and power of the wolves had her literally wanting to scream out loud with joy at the capture Chris Weitz had done with the picture.
She also revealed, exclusively to Oprah, the origins of the New Moon Volturi. She said that the New Moon story originally had a very tame and mild ending, but that her mother was the one to suggest a more action-oriented sequence near the end. This is, according to Stephenie Meyer’s revelation on Oprah, how the Volturi came to be.

Twilight News/New Moon News

We’re finally gonna be seeing Stephenie Meyer on TV/Youtube again!! Since last year’s explosion of Twilight, the much beloved author and creator of The Twilight Saga has not been seen doing any major TV interviews. But this year, we will and she’s doing it BIG – with none other than the Queen of Talk Shows herself – Oprah Winfrey.

YUP! Stephenie Meyer’s gonna be on Oprah!!
Oh btw! If you have any questions for her.. she’s inviting you to ASK!!
I’m doing this for a good reason: I am so pleased and amazed and thrilled with what Chris Weitz has done with New Moon that I want to talk about it, and to show my support for him. And since I’m only doing one interview, better make it big. Really big. So….I will be on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Friday, November 13th. Check the local listings on Oprah’s website to find out what time it will be on where you live.
Of course, most of the questions for Oprah will be designed for a broader audience than just die-hard Twilight fans, and I imagine people who read this site and other fansites will already know most of the answers. To rectify this, I’m going to answer your more specific questions on-line. The official Twilight Saga website (www.TheTwilightSaga.com) will be taking any New Moon movie-related questions you might have for me, and then I’ll answer those most frequently asked. I’ll post the answers on the Twilight Saga website and also here on my own site. Questions can be submitted to TheTwilightSaga.com from noon (Eastern Standard Time) on Monday, November 9th through noon Tuesday, November 10th. The answers will be posted Monday, November 16th—or New Moon Premiere Day, as it is known around my house. (Details about submitting the questions will be posted first thing Monday morning at TheTwilightSaga.com, you can also get more information below.)
I’m so very excited that you’ll all get to see New Moon in just two weeks! Then you’ll see what I’m going on about. Until then, think up some good questions for me.
Love,
Steph
I have a very good feeling about this interview. Oprah is gonna hit it off MASSIVELY with Stephenie!!
And betcha, the MIDNIGHT SUN questions will come up! No doubt about it!
Moving along….

We’ve posted about how Twilight boosted the economy of a small town called FORKS in September.
Now read USA Today’s article about how an ancient town called Volterra in Italy is welcoming tourists from all over the world within its walls because of New Moon.

To capitalize on New Moon's popularity, the Volterra tourism board sponsors Twilight-themed weekends that include a reception with "blood."
Backpackers carrying battered copies of New Moon duck through the narrow alleyways of the walled city, which has about 12,000 residents. Souvenir shops hawk calendars, mugs and T-shirts bearing the tousled likeness of actor Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward in the films.
And whether fans are Team Edward or Team Jacob (Bella’s two love interests in New Moon), all want to visit the Piazza dei Priori, the town’s square anchored by a clock tower where the Volturi — a coven of elite vampires that plays a pivotal role in the upcoming movie — reside.
Kunke, 19, found Volterra on a map as soon as she read New Moon. “I was like, I have to go there,” says the native of Portland, Ore. “It was just one of those things I had to do.”
Long overshadowed by its more touristy Tuscan neighbor, San Gimignano, Volterra is capitalizing on the interest. The tourism office has created a themed map of the city, encouraged fan meet-ups, and this spring introduced a New Moon weekend package that includes a walking tour called “Hot on the Trail of Edward and Bella,” Twilight merchandise and even a dramatic re-enactment of one of the book’s scenes.”

Bluewater Productions is the independent comic production studio that published Female Force, a comic biography, which featured Stephenie Meyer over a month ago. Female Force is a graphic novel that offers a broad examination of strong and influential women who are shaping modern history. So far they have published biographies on such influential women as Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Palin and Princess Diana. Now Bluewater Productions have teamed up with 98331 Gear (a Twilight online merchandise store based in Forks, Washington – 98331 is Forks’ postcode) to release an Exclusive 2nd Edition of highly popular Female Force comic featuring Stephenie Meyer.
The comic, written by Ryan Burton (“Flying Saucers vs The Earth”) examines Meyer’s rise to popularity, her “Twilight” saga novels, the launching of the successful movie franchise and her future plans. According to Burton, a very recognizable and iconic vampire will serve as the story’s narrator.

“We are very excited about our cover, we feel the artist really took our request to be different to heart in designing it. Already we have people asking when the graphic novels will be available for purchase. And those of you who want to have something just a bit more exclusive we will also be offering a very limited edition foil cover. There will only 100 of these EVER made so go get your hands on them while you can as they most definitely not last”

Moving on.. another interesting news on the New York Post but first the photo (!!)
Summit is also likely to pursue smaller deals for film library assets or overseas independent production companies, these sources said. The studio, which was formed in April 2007 and has access to more than $1 billion in funding from Merryll Lynch and a consortium of investors, could also build or buy its way into television and online-content production. Summit already has an output deal for its movies in place with Showtime.
Known primarily as a seller of international distribution rights, Summit gained notoriety on the production side by scooping up the rights to Stephenie Meyer’s teenage vampire series, “Twilight,” after Viacom’s Paramount Pictures relinquished them.
The first Twilight movie, which cost only $37 million to make, grossed nearly $400 million at the worldwide box office and made teen idols out of stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
Industry observers estimate that Twilight-related consumer products, excluding books, generated nearly $500 million in revenue worldwide, of which Summit receives a high single- to low double-digit percentage.
Read more here.
[UPDATED] Summit’s Response to the report above.
Team Summit
You may have already read or heard about a piece in today’s NY Post that Summit is close to putting Morgan Stanley on retainer to help the studio grow its business and advise on possible transactions designed to take our company to the next level. While the Board and Senior Management are in discussions with the investment bank, no formal plans have been made as to how we would expand Summit and its platform. We have all built a great company over the past two years and we feel fortunate to be in the position to now look beyond the initial goals we have achieved and plan the next chapter in the studio’s journey.

MTV.com gives us a quick guide on the lesser known artists in The Twilight Saga: New Moon OST.
On Monday, the track listing for the upcoming soundtrack to “New Moon” was revealed and it has the same mix of the popular and somewhat-obscure that fans have come to expect from Stephenie Meyer. The 15 all-new or exclusive tracks feature some of the names that have been kicking around for a while, such as Muse, who refashioned the baroque “I Belong To You” from their new album, The Resistanceat director Chris Weitz’s behest and Death Cab for Cutie, whose “Meet Me On The Equinox” debuted on MTV.com recently.
Check out the Twilight Saga: New Moon artists photos here.
Here’s a sampling of 2 of the lesser known artists.

Lykke Li – She did this awesome cover of my favourite band Kings Of Leon’s ultra epic song’ Knocked Out ‘ (which the Kings loved too!
) Her song on the New Moon OST will be POSSIBILITY.
And check out Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Their Song ALL DONE WRONG will be featured in the New Moon OST.

Michael Sheen was recently interviewed on Collider.com. He talks about New Moon and his other upcoming projects.

So going into “Twilight: New Moon”, were you nervous about taking this role because you had already come from a franchise like that, or were you more excited for the role? What was your thought process and what was it like making the film with all the hubbub around it?
Michael Sheen: I was mainly excited about it because I knew I would make my daughter very happy. Up front, that was the main reason. And then I read the books and I really enjoyed the books. I didn’t think I was going to, but I really did enjoy them. Then I was concerned that the fans of “Twilight” would be like, “But he’s played a werewolf; we can’t have him as a vampire,” and all that. But it hasn’t been like that. And because it was a very different character and I could sort of lose myself in it, hopefully people won’t have a problem with me having been in this other werewolf/vampire franchise. So when I went to do it, I just loved the character. I relished the opportunity to be there and be part of it. Now I’m just very pleased to have a whole new generation of people I can scare.
You mentioned your daughter. You’re quoted in the NY Post as saying she was a little annoyed when you took the part.
Michael Sheen: Right, well, I think she felt a whole combination of emotions. I think she was a bit overwhelmed by the fact that I was going to be in it. I think she was really excited, but, at the same time, I remember what this was like when I was ten, eleven. If there was something I was really into, the last thing I wanted was for my mom and dad to be into it as well. That’s just annoying. So she was very excited and she cried when I first told her about it. I think it was just her fantasy/imaginative world suddenly colliding with her reality. She didn’t know how she felt about it. She punched me I remember and kicked me. I think that was her sort of frustration with me. In fact it was her mother who said, “Is it because that’s your thing and now daddy’s getting in on it?” And she said, “Yes.” So it was her (as usual) very perceptive mother who got that. But then, very quickly, she made peace with that and then she was just very excited about going to the premiere.

MTV Movies Blog had an interview with Taylor Lautner at the VMA’s about his workout and Rob. Taylor Lautner: Robert Patinson Doesn’t Need Workout Advice
But Lautner isn’t the only one Twilighters got an eyeful of in the trailer — Robert Pattinson also appears sans shirt. And Lautner insists that if the two were to compete in some kind of shirt-off, the competition would be stiff. “I don’t know [who would win]. Rob, he’s getting some muscle,” he explained. “There’s some good competition.”
MTV also did another article with Anna Kendrick about her level of fame. ‘Twilight’ Actress Anna Kendrick Is Fine Without RPattz-Level Fame
“The thing about playing one of the human characters, the non-supernatural characters in the ‘Twilight’ series, is we have a lot more liberty to make it our own and change things, because people don’t have that attachment that they do to the myth, the world that Stephenie Meyer created in terms of the supernatural aspect,” the actress explained.
Here’s another interview with Anna by HitFix. Q&A: Anna Kendrick talks ‘New Moon’, ‘Scott Pilgrim’ and her breakthrough in ‘Up in the Air’
Q: Do you know if you’ll be back for ‘Breaking Dawn’ if and when those movies happen?
It does feel like to us — when I say ‘us’ I assume people know I’m referring to the human characters — it feels like it’s probably coming to a close. We appear in a dream sequence or one sequence in the book of of ‘Breaking Dawn’ so I don’t know if we’ll be back for it and we’re only signed up for three, because the three books were only out when we made the first film. So, I don’t know that we will be involved in ‘Breaking Dawn,’ but it’s a really fun thing to go back to. Particularly when I go back for this short period of time it feels like I’m going back to summer camp and I’m seeing my friends from summer camp.
Radar Online had a meeting with Edi Gathegi where he actually tried to scare the author, Stephenie Meyer! EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Twilight Actor Edi Gathegi Scared Stephenie Meyer
Radar: How scary is your scene?
Gathegi: Let’s just put it this way. I told Stephenie Meyer that my goal would be to scare every 14 year-old girl, and she looked at me and said “Edi, you’re so sweet and you have such a little baby face, no one is going to be scared of you at all.” Then she saw the movie and the dailies said, “OK Edi, you scared me!” And I said “That means a lot coming from you,” especially since she told me I wasn’t even going to be able to BE scary!
The Twilight Examiner has had an interview with ‘How To Be’ director, Oliver Irving. Exclusive Interview – How to Be Director gives insight into Robert Pattinson and his character
Were you familiar with Rob, or had you heard of him before he was cast?
No – he told me he was in a Harry Potter movie but made it seem like a small part. After the first audition I was sure he could be good, so checked him out online and realized he had a huge fan base already. Another call back or two to doubly make sure we had our man, and we were set.

Twilight News
Stephenie Meyer will be in a comic book, Female Force!
The bio comic will examine Meyer’s rise to popularity with the Twilight Saga novels, the movie franchise, and her plans for the future. We have it on good authority that the story will be narrated by a very recognizable and iconic vampire. (We’re guessing it won’t be Lestat.) An alternate 40-page collector’s edition will also include a history of Forks, Washington.
A fellow reader of Robsessed Pattinson has a fan encounter story for everyone. Brian and Dana shared a tip when meeting Rob: Remain Calm
And, he came right over to us, even before he confirmed what he was doing with his security guards. My friend Dana and I were among the first to get our photos with him, and besides being very sweaty and out of breath from his bike ride in the 87 degree heat, Robert was very friendly but was also a little reserved. My friend Dana’s photo did not come out the first time, and when Rob granted her a second take, an overzealous fan jumped into the photo causing my friend to say “get the f#@$ out of my photo”. To which Robert laughed and replied “good one”. He then graciously granted her a third take, and the photo came out wonderful.
I do not want to speak for everyone, but as far as I could tell the twelve or so people who had come across the set were lucky enough to get their photos with Rob before he excused himself to move to the next set and finish for the night. I do not want to come off as preachy, but while we waited we kept quiet and listened to the requests of the production staff and when Rob did wrap and we called to him, we did so calmly. When he came across the street, with the exception of the overzealous fan who jumped into my friend’s photo, everyone kept calm and although he did not say Rob seemed to appreciate the fact that we did so.
I think he showed his appreciation for our patience in waiting, and our calmness while dealing with him by allowing all of us the opportunity of meeting him. So if you are in a situation where you come across Robert, exercise restraint and remain clam and it should pay off.
Taylor meets Taylor! That’s right, Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift is currently working in a new movie, Valentine’s Day. Just Jared Jr has a brief article and loads of set pictures.

New Moon News

Woot! Gregory Ellwood has just posted HitFix.com ‘s DAY 2 of their visit to the Twilight Saga: New Moon set.
After getting an up close view of the sets for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon, on Day One, this writer’s second day on the sequel’s set didn’t seem much different at first.
As we made our way into the soundstage, the film’s principals were once again seen on the video monitors acting out more scenes from the initial Volturi meeting. And like a proud mother watching her children, series author Stephenie Meyer was front and center taking in every moment. (AawWWWWW)
…The first shot we witness this morning finds Pattinson on camera in a long brown robe with tan accents on his sleeve. He races to the camera, looks up, braces in pain and then falls to the floor. The second take he has more agony in his voice as he falls and we can hear director Chris Weitz saying, “Much, much better.” The third attempt finds the camera panning back to reveal Bella at his side before he lunges toward what must be one of the Volturi (Jane we later discover) and falling to the ground.
“Please stop,” Stewart says, “Don’t hurt him.”
At first, during rehearsal as the camera operator sets up the shot, Stewart says the lines comically with deadpan effect causing some snickers from the crew. But when the take is ready for real, she says it with the expected dramatic resolve. The coverage also expands to find Alice Cullen (Ashley Greene) being allowed to race to Edward’s side. She gesture’s that he’s “OK.”
…Then something rather odd happened. This journalist has been to more than 30 movie sets and had never experienced what occurred next. A man who I can only assume was the Assistant Director came out from the closed 360 Volturi hall and announced, “All guests clear the set.” And that didn’t mean Ms. Meyer, her companions or the Summit executives in front of the monitors, that meant us — the press. So, without complaint we walked off the soundstage to be followed by an overly genial Wyck Godfrey, the film’s producer we’d spoken with the day before, who, paraphrasing, remarked, “Sometimes things like that happen on a movie set.”
… Happily though, our whole crew was soon allowed back on the set where we returned to our positions to watch more shooting. At this point — and with her crew and some of the publicists out of the way, Meyer made a point of coming over to talk to us. We couldn’t interview her formally (her handlers are actually smart to limit her press breaks), but she couldn’t not say hello to us. She’d also admitted she visited all or our sites except for HitFix, but hopefully that has changed in the weeks since. (Are you there Stephenie? Have you gotten your fix?). We also discovered these was one of her few visits to the filming of “New Moon” and she had not been there for all of the production. Meyer also said she was very happy with Weitz’s direction and was blown away by the Volutri hall set that was being used the days we were there.

Here’s a little something about Noot Seear who plays the beautiful vampire Heidi.

Noot Seear is Heidi in The Twilight Saga:New Moon
“We wanted someone who had an unearthly and unlikely beauty, but could also convey humor and menace,” explains Weitz, who reportedly also considered AnnaLynne McCord of “90210” before eventually settling on Seear. “It’s rare to find a stunningly attractive person who also happens to have the ability to act.”
…But when the opportunity to be part of the “Twilight” juggernaut came about, she knew it was her time. “I started reading the books, and I couldn’t put them down,” she says.
She admits she was worried her modeling years would hinder her acting chops. “I was really scared because you’re not allowed to look in the camera [when filming a movie], but in the modeling world, you’re supposed to,” recalls Seear, whose problem was solved by the heavy-duty violet contacts she had to wear on-screen. “I literally couldn’t see 2 feet in front of me. They would tell me, ‘Look at Kristen [Stewart],’ and I was like, ‘OK. Where is she?’”
…And the model, who’s already signed up for two more “Twilight” installments, shows no signs of slowing down. “Modeling was great to me. I made a lot of money doing it,” says Seear, who plans to move to Los Angeles later this year to focus on acting. “[But] what makes acting different is that you get a voice. You’re not just a picture.”

The team working on this sequel to last year’s Catherine Hardwicke-directed “Twilight,” which brought in an unexpected $365 million worldwide for Summit Entertainment, is moving quickly to sustain the momentum of the sexy, youth-oriented franchise.
…Between takes, Pattinson chats with the crew while director Chris Weitz stands several feet away, his arms folded behind his head. Visual effects, “that’s not my thing,” he concedes with a wry smile. What does interest him is literature. Due in theaters Nov. 20, “New Moon” will mark his third consecutive literary adaptation after having directed “About a Boy,” from the Nick Hornby novel, and “The Golden Compass,” the big-budget fantasy based on the first chapter in author Philip Pullman’s award-winning “His Dark Materials” series. It was his experience making that film — which should have been a dream project really, given Weitz’s reverence for the source material — that made the idea of taking the reins on the second “Twilight” film so appealing.
…”I promised the actors that no matter what, we would have time to discuss every single line,” Weitz explains. “There was a line that he felt was repetitive and Rob wasn’t feeling where he was in the scene. We worked it out and came up with some alternate dialogue. I can work on the fly a bit because I’m a writer-director, which is helpful. I don’t feel stuck or panicky when an actor is not down with a particular piece of dialogue.”
….”It’s a rare and wonderful feeling to know that people are going to want to see what you’re making,” he says. “The fear sometimes when you’re making a film is that you’ve gotten everybody all dressed up with nowhere to go. Certainly, there is the possibility that I can drop the ball . . . . But at least people are going to go and see it.”

THE GREAT BOOK BLOCKADE 2009

Was watching CNN this afternoon and this report caught my attention. Mainly cos Twilight was mentioned (hehe..) Anyway, there are plans to increase the taxes on imported ’non educational’ books by 5% in the Philippines and this was partly fuelled by the popularity of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga Series as well as JK Rowlings’ Harry Potter series.
According to Hemley, the situation developed this way. Stephenie Meyer’s novel “Twilight” apparently did so well in the bookstores that the number of copies being imported attracted the attention of a Customs official. Examiner Rene Agulan decreed that duties be paid. It seems that the importer of the book reacted in a manner familiar to most book lovers in the country: to eliminate the hassle, the importer complied with the Customs levy on the title.
Hmmm its pretty dodgy seeing that this may curb people’s freedom in reading ‘non-educational’ books ie fiction work. Their argument being to protect local publishers. I’ll let you guys be the judge of it. Read here.

First, in case you didn’t see it, New Moon: The Complete Illustrated Movie Companionis already available for pre-order (even though the cover art has not been released). For those of you who haven’t seen the Twilight Companion, it is filled with high-quality images and behind-the-scenes information. Please note that Stephenie does not write these books, but I really enjoyed the first one.
The third movie entry in the “Twilight” series, “Eclipse,” will shoot at Vancouver Film Studios between August 17 and October 31 (Halloween wrap!), ComingSoon reports. The David Slade-directed adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s novel will come from a script by series scribe (and occasional “Dexter” writer) Melissa Rosenberg.

ET has an outtake video of their New Moon exclusive coverage. This time, it includes Robsten’s almost-kiss @ MTV Movie Awards 2009, Stephenie Meyer’s opinions on New Moon plus some other extra exclusive on set visit:
RPattz’s abs in New Moon are fake? So says an on-set source…eventhough Kellan Lutz did mentioned that the abs are real. Read here to find out more:
And while Robert himself remained mum on the talks, his co-star Kellan Lutz insisted, “Taylor [Lautner] been training Rob a lot, and that’s why he’s got such ripped abs,” adding that “Rob’s been working hard. He’s trying to be the best Edward [Pattinson's character in the films] he can be.”
And so they have been comparing about the Twilight Hot Bods: Robert Pattinson Vs Taylor Lautner Vs Kellan Lutz. Rosalie’s monkey man won!
New Moon News – Montepulciano Press Conference: Chris Weitz & Summit Ent. answer NEW MOON questions

Twilight Italia has finally released the video that they have recorded during the May 25th press conference. We posted this on May 27th and you guys can check it out here.

This is by far the only press conference that Chris Weitz and the Summit team has done with regards to The Twilight Saga: The New Moon and they talk and answer questions extensively about the making of the film and how they want it to look like plus other interesting aspects including why was Montepulciano was chosen over Volterra.
The production team namely Chris Weitz(director), Wyck Godfrey (producer) and Bill Bannermann (producer) gave great and insightful answers to the questions posed to them. HUGE THANKS to Twilight Italia for the great edited video and the excellent translation!! Well Done!
Here’s a transcript of 5 questions that was posed in the Press Conference. (Apologies to certain words that we just could not make out
)
Q: What is the concept of this second Twilight movie? Along which direction does it develop?
Chris Weitz: The visual concept of this film is maybe a bit more classical in style – its old fashioned in style than the first film. So perhaps less gothic, more renaissance, I think we took the inspiration from the painting with the Pre-Raphaelites , the British Pre-Raphaelites (…)who in turn took their inspiration from the Italian (..). So that is the (..) of our film. And we also have this extraordinary opportunity to expand the worlds that was pre-empted in the first film and coming to Italy presents an extraordinary opportunity to us. I think Italy is the most beautiful country in the world. And the chance for our film to make that leap to this extraordinary place is most (..)
Q: Which location will be used in Montepulciano? Such as streets, buildings etc. Which customization did you apply to the town buildings/scenarios in addition to the fountain? Are you planning to satisfy all the teenagers that are waiting in the town square, maybe showing the actors?
CW: Well in reverse order, I have been here for 2 days and I’ve met hundreds of fans already. And its really wonderful to see the degree of enthusiasm that they’ve shown. Often travelling from very long distances to be here.
And with regards to the location, we’re not only shooting in the town square but in fact in this building and throughout the town. There must be 10-15 different places where we will be shooting. But if I tell you the exact places (laughs), they will be crowded with teenagers by the time we’re gonna shoot there. So, we want to keep it a little secret of exactly where we’ll be.
Q: Did you experience the same problems while in Vancouver?
CW: Well I don’t think its really a problem. I think its very nice that people are so interested. Its only that, we have to point our cameras in various directions and it can be difficult sometimes if there are excited fans in that direction. But its not really a problem. Obviously, its wonderful to be enthusiastic about the film.
Q: Are you satisfied with the level of fidelity to the book that you’ve reached so far in the filming?
Wyck Godfrey : I think that’s one of the successes of the first movie and will be the success of this fim is how closely we stay to the source material and Stephenie Meyer is part of the whole production. You know,Chris worked on the script, has read the book several times and a lot of it is trying to make sure we capture( ..)
Q: Why did you choose Montepulciano instead of Volterra?
CW: If anyone is to blame or to thank for is me. And the very simple answer which might not be satisfactory, but it has to do with symmetry. It has to do with the symmetry of the Main Square. You know, as a director, a lot of the way that I see the things is simply visual and the clock tower in Montepulciano offered me the perfect shot that I wanted. Now, Montepulciano and Volterra are beautiful towns and a great deal of history so it might seem silly for it to come down to just that. I hope that the book can be good for Volterra and the film can be good for Montepulciano and the film can also be good for Volterra. And there won’t be any ill feelings. But if there is anyone to blame, it would all be me. And I also like to add, it is very nice of everyone for thanking us to be here. But we are actually are the ones who are grateful for being hosted and with considerable sense of humility that we come to this part of the world, with this much history and beauty to it. And that we’re able to hopefully capture that. So thank you for welcoming us!
6 years and going stronger than ever…
Today marks a special day.
6 years ago, a mother of 3 had an interesting dream of a young couple having an intriguing conversation in the meadow. The boy was trying to explain to his beloved that he is trying his best of not killing her because he loved her so much.
As soon as she woke up, she knew she had to write it down and from that day onwards, she couldn’t stop thinking about this dream. She had to continue the story and finally managing to write the book within 3 months. All in all, when the book was finally being picked up for publishing, it has been a gruelling 6 months. Yes, today is when “The Twilight Saga” was born….
Twilighters all over the world are most thankful to Stephenie Meyer for capturing their imagination from her vast world of vampires and werewolves, and to think that there might be a chance with guys like Edward Cullen or Jacob Black MIGHT still be out there.
We have met many fans and made friends through our love for the Twilight series and held great events for us for our passion towards the books. Even to capture a couple of film makers eyes’, we are glad to finally see our Stephenie’s vision on the big screen.
Thank you Stephenie, for your creativity that has given us a chance to use our imagination to picture one of the most romantic love stories for years to come.
From all of us at Twilight Singapore: Have a Happy Twilight Day, Twilighters!

New Moon News
Recently, the New Moon/Eclipse cast including David Slade & Stephenie Meyer gathered at a Vancouver restaurant for the New Moon Wrap Party and Eclipse Kick-Off Party. Vancity Allie was there to cover the event. Lots of great pictures too, check out her blog entry!
Allie’s friend, Amy, with Stephenie Meyer
There was an all-cast New Moon Wrap Party and Eclipse Kick-Off Party happening at Blue Water. All the cast members were partying in a private room at the restaurant. David Slade was there to kick things off, Stephenie Meyer also, as well as Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria), Rob Pattinson (Edward), Kristen Stewart (Bella), Taylor Lautner (Jacob), Ashley Greene (Alice), Michael Sheen (Aro), Jamie Bower (Caius), Charlie Bewley (Demetri), Dakota Fanning (Jane), Cameron Bright (Alec) and I’m pretty sure I saw Melissa Rosenberg (screenwriter) there.
I saw a couple cast members holding thick manuscripts, including Rob, so I’m PRETTY sure they were possibly giving out Eclipse scripts (with David Slade, Stephenie and Melissa doesn’t it seem possible?). How cool is that?
A Twitter update from Michael Sheen:

OMG!!!! They just did a photoshoot for The Volturi! Thank you Michael Sheen for the update

Melissa Rosenberg mentions Channing Tatum in Twilight ScreenWriter: Bring on Channing Tatum! Melissa also confirms that we will be seeing plenty of Rob in New Moon
At least one very important person in the movie adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s vampire love story thinks Tatum would be perfect to play bad-boy vampire Riley in Eclipse, the third in the four-book series.
“There’s a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well,” Twilight and New Moon screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who is currently writing the Eclipse script, told us this weekend at the Los Angeles Times Book Festival benefit for the Writers Guild Foundation.
“And there are some complexities to that character,” she adds. “He really is tragic. He’s a puppet for Victoria [bad-girl vampire played by Rachelle Lefevre]. So he has to break your heart a little bit at the end when he realizes that she doesn’t want him. Channing could do that beautifully.”
According to MTV, Rob will play a lead role in ‘Remember Me’. Rob will head down to NY to shoot ‘Remember Me’ once New Moon wraps up in May. It’s a busy year for our RPattz!
Pattinson will play the lead role in “Remember Me,” a story of a young couple whose burgeoning relationship is complicated by a succession of family tragedies that test their bond, according to ScreenDaily.com. The makers of the film, which had previously been titled “Memoirs,” have not yet settled on which actress who will play Pattinson’s love interest.
Emmy-winning director Allen Coulter (“The Sopranos,” “Damages”) will direct, and Jenny Lumet, who penned the script for last year’s critical darling “Rachel Getting Married,” is working on a draft of the screenplay.
Meanwhile, Nikki Reed spill the beans about a new documentary film that will feature her, Kristen Stewart called ‘The Glorification of Celebrities’. Read more here.
