And lastly, Rob Pattinson made it into EW’s 50 MOST POWERFUL ENTERTAINERS list. Wanna know where he ranks? Buy the mag!
This week’s EW cover story brings back The Power List, our rankings of the most influential people in the entertainment business. We started doing these rankings way back in 1990 — when names like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Madonna were up high — and have come back to it from time to time in various forms (in 2007, it was The Smart List). This year, we’re freshening things up again, by focusing exclusively on on-screen talent — in other words, folks with recognizable faces only, no agents or studio suits need apply. As usual, we based our calculations on a formula that included both hard, crunchable numbers (box office grosses, TV viewers, albums sold) with less tangible factors, like a star’s influence within their industry or general command of the pop cultural stage.

Check out Taylor Lautner in Valentine’s Day:
A great read for K-Stew fans. For Kristen Stewart, this is her dawn by LA Times:

Call it a casting fluke, call it kismet. In both of her movies premiering at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Kristen Stewart portrays a 16-year-old runaway.
For the gritty family drama “Welcome to the Rileys,” the “Twilight Saga” star inhabits a role quite unlike Bella Swan, the long-suffering vampire-lover character that made Stewart an international icon. She plays Mallory, a stripper-hooker with a porn star’s wardrobe and a mascara-tarred visage whose sexual frankness could make a trucker blush.
In the high-octane coming-of-age drama “The Runaways,” meanwhile, Stewart portrays real-life proto-punk Joan Jett, who co-founded the all-girl teenage rock band called — you guessed it — the Runaways at age 16. In the film, Stewart’s character snorts cocaine, makes out with costar Dakota Fanning and drunkenly urinates on an electric guitar.
In this next article from MTV, Kristen compares her role in ‘Welcome to the Rileys’ and ‘Twilight’:
In an earlier interview with MTV News, the actress argued that even though the film presents her in a far different light than the “Twilight” films, fans of the vampire franchise will find much to connect with in “Rileys.”
“Most ‘Twilight’ fans are young girls, and this is a really, really good story for them,” she said. “It just sort of opens your eyes. You just don’t have any options.”

Twilight News

In July last year we posted the news about the Twilight manga or the Twilight Graphic Novel which EW reported well they’ve got an update on it. Here’s the cover!

I’m delighted to announce, exclusively, that Yen Press will publish Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 on March 16, with a first printing of 350,000 copies. Here’s a first glimpse at the book’s cover, as well as an exclusive peek at one of its panels (for a full ten-page excerpt, and the entire Q&A with Stephenie Meyer, see the issue of EW that goes on sale this Friday).
What strikes me, looking at the book, is how faithfully, and how beautifully, artist Young Kim has translated Meyer’s original vision. Kim, who has a fine arts background—in fact, this is her first foray into graphic novels—didn’t just read the book; she absorbed it. Her Bella is the Bella I had in my mind’s eye the first time I read Twilight; her Edward is the Edward I always imagined. It took me back to reading Twilight pre-movie: Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson faded into the background.
Meyer talked to us about all this, and more. Here are a few snippets from our conversation:
The text of your original novel is boiled down so carefully that it doesn’t feel like anything is missing. Were you the one who did that?
I was definitely involved. I didn’t do the original “script” for the book, so to speak. But when I got the dialogue with the images, I did a lot of tinkering. In a couple of places, I asked for missing scenes to be inserted. For example, the conversation in the car that Bella and Edward have after she faints in Biology.
How does the feeling of reading the graphic novel compare to that of reading the original? Does it bring something new to the experience for you?
For me, it takes me back to the days when I was writing Twilight. It’s been a while since I was really able to read Twilight; there is so much baggage attached to that book for me now. It seems like all I can see are the mistakes in the writing. Reading Young’s version brought me back to the feeling I had when I was writing and it was just me and the characters again. I love that. I thank her for it.
Read more and check out the sneak preview of the book at EW!
Twilight Lexicon has reported that you can actually Pre-Order your copy at Amazon! And they’re also posted the official press release from Little, Brown about the graphic novel.
As is typical in graphic novel publishing, due to the length of the prose novel, the book will be divided into two volumes and the release date for the second volume is forthcoming.
Twilight: The Graphic Novel contains selected text from Meyer’s original novel with illustrations by Korean artist Young Kim. A rare fusion of Asian and Western comic techniques is reflected in this black-and-white graphic novel with color interspersed throughout. Meyer consulted throughout the artistic process and had input on every panel.
New Moon News

Brazil’s Globo.com has video of the New York premiere of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and the cast were asked about they’re obsessions.
EW did an interview with Michael Sheen who plays Aro. The writer is pretty oblivious of Sheen’s credentials in the horror-action genre. The guy played Lucian the Werewolf in the Underworld series. And to call the Twilight Series frothy? Michael Sheen obviously has more insight puts it right with the quoted text.

What do you think audiences are responding to with Twilight?
I think it’s a whole combination of things coming together. Especially for adolescent girls and also for older audiences, Stephenie [Meyer] takes the incredibly powerful experiences you have as a teenager and treats them absolutely fearlessly and gives them the respect they deserve. The first book and film are about the first time you fall in love. And New Moon is all about the first time your heart is broken. These are some of the most powerful experiences you can have in your life, regardless of your age. And there is a tendency to kind of trivialize those things as you get older, to kind of be patronizing about those things. And Stephenie treats them absolutely seriously. She also, very cleverly in a way, said that the vampires are stunningly gorgeous as a way to lure their prey. That’s very clever because in casting the film you have very beautiful people who are very good as well.
Happing.com from Spain asked Rob why he doesn’t Tweet or do Facebook and a couple more interesting questions. Thanks to Robert Pattinson Life’s pinkvintage for the translations.
Questions translated – by pinkvintage
1.- You once said that if there was ever a fight between Edward and Jacob, Edward would be the winner. Could Robert also win over Taylor?
2.- There’s something that intrigues me, if Jacob is in love with Bella, and he’s also really hot, why do you think Bella doesn’t like him? Could it be because he doesn’t own a Volvo?
3.- Could you tell us how do you deal with going out on the streets and running into a lot of girls who are screaming how hot you are? Do you sign autographs for all of them or do you just run out of there screaming ‘Jumanji!!!’
4.- Yesterday I was watching some interviews on YouTube and I found one that happened during the Teen Choice Awards in which Kristen was asked where you were. She said that you were probably in the bathroom looking in the mirror and playing with your hair. Do you really spend that much time on your hair?
5.- Could you tell us a funny anecdote that happened during the filming of the movie?
6.- A couple of hours ago I was live tweeting all of what was going on during the press conference. Aren’t you interested in sharing your thoughts with your fans through Twitter or Facebook? The Jonas Bros, who were here yesterday, are already doing it.

Chris Weitz has done yet another great interview ( We officially heart Chris Weitz!!) this time with EW.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What was your biggest fear going into [opening] weekend?
CHRIS WEITZ: I didn’t have any particular fears. The tracking numbers were enough to indicate that I wouldn’t be letting the studio down. But if one could imagine their biggest fears, it would be complete rejection of the movie, by the fans. What I’ve realized over the last week is I won’t necessarily get good reviews for this movie. Having swallowed that, this was made for the fans, and if you don’t get it, then you don’t get it.
Did the negative reviews surprise you?
Nothing surprises me in terms of reviews. Having been a reviewer myself, there are only two ways to spin this story. You can either be the one guy who says this is a great movie, or more likely, take a more jaundiced view of the whole thing. And given the media blitz that has accompanied New Moon, it’s rather unsurprising. I do wish there was more appreciation for cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe. I think he’s a genius and I think he made something beautiful.
A lot of fans say they like the movie more than the book, that New Moon was their least favorite book in the series.
New Moon takes a lot of time to read and you have a lot of time without Edward in the picture. And here in the compressed scenario of the movie, there is less time without RPatz. And the fact that Taylor [Lautner] does such a great job, to the reading audience who’s been very skeptical of him, here he is in the flesh, and it’s quite something.
It’s interesting then that you went forward with another book adaptation with another studio, considering how badly it went the last time.
I really liked the actors. I saw the first movie and I thought there was something special about Kristen [Stewart] , Rob [Pattinson], and Taylor. I liked the emotional tones to the book. It was stuff I knew how to do. I had this theory that if you stay true to the book, you would win. You would not only win with the fans, but other people will get what the fans care about. If the box office tells us anything, then it’s a win. It’s made more in its first day then the entire domestic run of Golden Compass. It’s extraordinary.
What were the highest and lowest points of making New Moon?
The lows had to be shooting at 5 a.m. in a forest and struggling to get certain shots so a sequence would string together properly. It was a very cold forest in British Columbia, and we knew we’d have another night shoot just like it the next day. The highs were the moments of real identification with the actors. With Taylor, the moments early on when he realized he was going to do it. That was very gratifying to me.

Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner for American Idol? Watch the video right here from EW to find out more
Apparently taking the pop culture world by storm in the Twilight saga is just not enough for New Moon stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. Now the dynamic duo would like to infiltrate television’s biggest phenomenon as well. On the latest episode of Must List Live!, Stewart and Lautner reveal that they’d like to put their pipes to the test under the unforgiving glare of Simon Cowell on American Idol. Should they ever make it to stage, what song would they croon? You’ll have to watch the clip below to find out. And then let us know: Would you vote to keep the Twilight twosome around on Idol?
According to Lainey, it’s all about the Hair, Hoods And First Day Shoots. Wig testing for Kristen and they already started filming scenes involving Jasper and Maria too. Meanwhile, Nikki Reed and Elizabeth Reaser went out for shopping. That’s about all.

EW also has an exclusive on Secrets on the Set of New Moon.
…This is the third freezing night in a row that the cast has worked until dawn, but that doesn’t stop the set from feeling warm and jovial. Pattinson mugs for the movie camera between takes and teases his costar for just lying on the floor in the midst of all the vamp-on-vamp violence. ”Do you want Kristen to give us a little life back there?” he jokes to the director. Kristen smiles. ”I’m just writhing down here,” she says. ”A lot of writhing. I writhe really well.”
…Pattinson couldn’t be happier with his downsized role. ”It was a stress-free job for three months,” says the actor, 23, in his charming British lilt. ”All the pressure was on Taylor.”

We’re still in the Comic-Con mode, so here’s what we have for you today! Articles and photos just keep coming in!
FAME (and Robert Pattinson!) Well, according to Rob, fame isn’t the worst thing in the world:
Attending the “Twilight Saga’s New Moon” panel at Comic Con in San Diego on Thursday, July 23, the British actor jokingly said, “I never do anything normal anyway” before then adding, “I pretty much live an almost identical life apart from being recognized.”
You have seen the two “pirated” clips from the previous post. Now, from MTV, Robert describes Bella’s Hallucinations in ‘New Moon’:
“It’s just Edward’s voice in the book,” Pattinson told his fans at Comic-Con. “And I guess it would look probably pretty cheesy if it was just my voice, so they’ve done these hallucinations, kind of semi-visible apparitions.”
Kristen Stewart added that in these hallucinations Bella Swan has are “very subjective, like how she remembers him, not necessarily how he actually is.”
We still have more great cast pictures…from the lovely Everglow and Lion And Lamb Love! Check out the respective galleries
We even have cast portraits too. Thanks to EW!

Taylor Lautner had an interview with Interview Magazine.
When rumors surfaced last year that 17-year-old Taylor Lautner would not appear in theTwilight sequel because he was too physically slight to portray a bookworm-turned-werewolf, a great shriek rose from Fangirl Island. “Noooooo!!” wrote one obsessive on a Twilightdiscussion board. “omg. Pleezze let Taylor come back,” implored another. Some were more militant: “If they don’t put him in . . . there will be a massive Twilight fan attack!”

Metro News has wrapped up their part 5 of 5 New Moon coverage with Robert Pattinson.
How is the filming going?
It’s great. To be honest, I am surprised at how relaxed it is. I was really nervous before we started because there’s so much expectation now. But with this team, everything seems to work really well. Everyone knows each other. It’s one of the most relaxed jobs I’ve ever worked on. It’s really strange. It’s going really well so far.

OBSERVE IF YOU WILL: Bella’s clothes CHANGE between scenes of her running from Laurent and Jacob leaping into attack mode (yellow backpack, gray shirt at 0:09, brown shirt at 0:11 when she screams “Jake, run!”). Many diehard fans, seeing these scenes together, thought that the director had deviated from the storyline of the book with this, when in fact if you look closely, you will see that the scenes shown in the trailer are not exactly as connected as the teaser would lead you to believe.

Melissa Rosenberg updated her Facebook and gave thumbs up to David Slade (director for Eclipse):
Finally got to spend some time with our new director for Eclipse, David Slade. And I gotta say, he’s great. Very smart, funny, creative. I already knew he was a really talented and visual filmmaker, but now I know he’s terrific to work with as well. Collaborative and, most important (from a writer’s point of view) smart about story, character and emotional arcs. He gets it. And he’s going to make Eclipse into a fantastic movie. So relax Eclipse fans! We’re in good hands.

Took a little trip to the set of Bella Swan’s house located in South Surrey, BC Canada just outside of Vancouver. EW: Oh, really? I thought from what I’ve read that [Twilight author] Stephanie Meyer sought you guys out and wanted you specifically to be on the soundtrack. But it’s more like you auditioned?
HW: Well I read the books, and when they were working on the soundtrack, I was finishing up the third book, Eclipse, and I was really into it. I thought this was a great art, a really good story, and really relatable, but I’m always into vampires and all that. So we were touring and writing and jamming out new things every day, and I was like, if they’re putting that soundtrack together this could be great, let’s figure out if we could be a part of it. So yeah, we kinda fought for it. And if you look at the rest of the album, it’s Muse and Iron and Wine and Linkin Park, which really isn’t our demographic.

It seems that we have lots of interviews with the cast. Fear.net has an interesting interview with Rachelle, Edi and Kellan.
Regarding New Moon, you’ll all be in the film.
LUTZ: Yeah we’re all confirmed.
LEFEVRE: It’s vampire camp. I keep calling it vampire camp.
LUTZ: It’s nice to be part of it. It’s very similar to the book. I loved the script, we all enjoyed it and I think it’s just great being back together again.
LEFEVRE: Yeah.
Rumors are all over the internet about new casting. Can you talk about any of them, Dakota Fanning, Vanessa Hudgens, etc.?
GATHEGI: I heard the Vanessa Hudgens, Anna-Lynn McCord rumor for the first time today.
LEFEVRE: I heard Anna-Lynn McCord for the first time today. Who was she meant to play?
GATHEGI: Heidi.
LEFEVRE: Oh, I hadn’t heard that one.
GATHEGI: So that’s the kind of loop I’m in. I heard the Dakota Fanning thing and I had a chance to meet her but Kellan asked her about it.
LUTZ: Yeah, we got to talk with her because she wanted to hang out with us, potentially her future cast mates, at the Push premiere. So that was great. It would be an honor to work with her. I’ve grown up watching her films and she’s a brilliant actress. Even in Push she did an amazing job, so for her to play Jane it would only better the film.
LEFEVRE: I keep laughing because, if we got to work with her, she’s done more movies than I have. Read it all here.

And speaking of Twilight–“I’ve heard so many rumors and I don’t even know what’s true anymore,” she sighed. “I read the script and there’s definitely a lot of action in it! I’ll have the yellow Porsche to drive. I was going to ask if I could keep it, but I don’t think it’s going to work out.” Read the full story here.
