6 years and going stronger than ever…

Today marks a special day.

6 years ago, a mother of 3 had an interesting dream of a young couple having an intriguing conversation in the meadow. The boy was trying to explain to his beloved that he is trying his best of not killing her because he loved her so much.

As soon as she woke up, she knew she had to write it down and from that day onwards, she couldn’t stop thinking about this dream. She had to continue the story and finally managing to write the book within 3 months. All in all, when the book was finally being picked up for publishing, it has been a gruelling 6 months. Yes, today is when “The Twilight Saga” was born….

Twilighters all over the world are most thankful to Stephenie Meyer for capturing their imagination from her vast world of vampires and werewolves, and to think that there might be a chance with guys like Edward Cullen or Jacob Black MIGHT still be out there. ;)

We have met many fans and made friends through our love for the Twilight series and held great events for us for our passion towards the books. Even to capture a couple of film makers eyes’, we are glad to finally see our Stephenie’s vision on the big screen.

Stephenie Meyer (Dreamcatcher)

Thank you Stephenie, for your creativity that has given us a chance to use our imagination to picture one of the most romantic love stories for years to come.

From all of us at Twilight Singapore: Have a Happy Twilight Day, Twilighters!

Twilight News (Version 2)

Hollyscoop has an article on Twilight being the Top Selling Release of 2009.

MTV with Vampire Showdown: James Marsters on Buffy’s Spike VS Twilight’s Edward:

But when it comes to showdown, Marsters had to admit that it’s going to be a pretty close fight.

“Hmmm..,” preceded a long pause as he seemed to really consider the situation in detail, “Edward seems to be a character who’s good at fighting but is trying to find the other areas of experience. Whereas Spike was addicted to fighting. That’s how he defined himself. I would think that Spike has a little more experience. He probably has a few fights up his belt.”

Twilight Movie Trivia: Henry Cavill was Stephenie Meyer’s first choice to play Edward. However, but by the time production was to begin, he was 25 years old, and no longer looked the part of a 17-year old. He was then offered the part of Carlisle Cullen but turned it down due to his commitment with’The Tudors’.

For a lack of a better word. I think the dolls look pretty. Faces are always hard to do and these one looks decent enough…and oh they’re hand painted too. Like the Neca action figure, they got the clothes pretty much spot on here…they look very authentic.

The Twilight Tonner dolls are slated for a spring release. Prices are to be announced at a later date. But expect it to be 100USD upwards. You can check out Tonner Doll’s Twilight page here.

Twilight was mentioned in yesterday’s Straits Times (November 24) Life section:

dsc06396

Washington – Twilight, the film based on a series of books about teen vampires by Stephanie Meyer, may make US$74.3 million (S$113.5 million) in its weekend debut, said box-office tracker Media by Numbers.
The film from independent studio Summit Entertainment earned US$35.7 million last Friday, including US$7 million from Thursday midnight showings, said the California-based tracker.
Summit Entertainment, formed in April last year, said it will begin production on a second film, to be called New Moon, the second title in the four-book vampire saga.
The book series has become wildly popular with teenage girls, who lined up outside theatres to see Twilight.
New Moon is centred on Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson, leaving Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) to keep her safe from other vampires. It will prove a challenge for producers as Cullen is largely absent from the second novel and Pattinson has been a gid draw for smitten Twilight fans.
“Summit did a great job with the marketing (of Twilight). It was so pervasive that even the casual observer was aware that this movie was coming out,” said Mr Paul Dergarabedian, president of media By Numbers. “This totally puts them on the map.”
The opening, if the numbers hold, would make the film the fourth-biggest-ever got this month, he said. It will beat the debuts of Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (US$25 million) and Quantum Of Solace (US$27 million).
Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire holds this month’s debut record with US$102.3 million in receipts.
But critics have been split on the film, with review aggregating website Rottentomatoes.com last Friday giving the film a rating of 43 per cent based on 118 reviews.
In a positive review, Los Angeles Times critic Kenneth Turan wrote:”I am not now not have I ever been a 13-year-old girl, but Twilight made me wish I could be, at least for a couple of hours, the better to appreciate a movie that has been targeted at that demographic with the delicious specifity of a laser weapon.
On a more negative note, Christian Orr of The New Republic magazine wrote that the film was “underwhelming” for anyone except teen girls. – Bloomberg, Reuters

Twilight was mentioned again in today’s Straits Times (November 25) Life Section page C18:

TWILIGHT TOPS US BOX OFFICE
Teen-vampire love story, Twilight, was No.1 in the North American weekend box office with some US$70.6 million (S$108 million) in ticket sales, the second-highest ever for an independent film.
Catherine Hardwicke’s movie, made for US$37 million, had the biggest opening ever for a female director.

The Twilight casts will be appearing on The Tyra Banks show on November 28th (Friday). Do keep a look out on that. And you can read here for more information about the show.

Great news guys - MTV has an article regarding the Twilight’s Box Office stats.

Larry Carroll from MTV has a new interview with Taylor Lautner (Jacob), Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria) and Edi Gathegi (Laurent). You should watch the interview – they are all awesome and a great bunch of funny people!

And surprise surprise – Can you guess who got a bite from our dear Robert Pattinson? Bessy and myself are pretty darn jealous. Find out here!

Moviefone has an A-Z of Twilight. Be sure to check it out. Here’s an example from the A-Z guide:

Z is for: Zzzz – The sound Internet fanboys make when ‘Twilight’ is brought up. Yes, it’s unfair, as fan girls don’t jeer at their obsessions with ‘Star Wars’ or ‘Batman,’ but the minute the gals finally get a franchise of their own, it becomes the mockery of Comic-Con and the Internet.

Remember InStyle’s photoshoot of the Twilight casts? Well, here’s a brief article – ‘Twilight Is Totally in Style’ from EOnline.

Everglow added a couple of outtakes from USA Today of Rob & Kristen and new stills of Edward & Bella looking very happy indeed.

Twilight News

Here’s an article about fashion in Twilight, since it plays such a big part. The best thing? Well now you know that Edward Cullen wears American Apparel. ;)

An Edward Cullen action figure is going to be out soon.

“Based on the best selling four part novel series by Stephenie Meyer, The Twilight film is going to be a huge success, and the Edward Cullen figure is a must have for any fan of the books or devotee to actor Robert Pattinson.”

You can find out more information about it here. Before you click on the link, however, I’m going to bet that your jaws will drop when you see the picture of it. :D

There are a lot of movie stills here and be happy about it. Be happy. You have never had so much eye candy in your life before. Of course, if you want to remain spoiler-free, you may!

The V Man photoshoot with the Twilight guys is out! Here’s the article:

Spoiler alert: If you want to find out how Twilight ends, all you need to do is pick up the book. The film, which comes out this November, is an adaptation of the first volume in Arizona author Stephenie Meyer’s popular vampire quadrilogy, a set of sentimental tales about the impossible love between an ordinary 17-year-old high school girl and her classmate, a beautiful 110-year-old bloodsucker, who refuses to bite her and damn her to his sort of immortality. In other words, it’s your regular teenage romance. “The story has elements of Romeo + Juliet and Titanic,” says director Catherine Hardwicke (Lords of Dogtown, Thirteen), “but it’s also got sexual tension, the supernatural, and a guy who’s fighting his own impulses in order to stay in the relationship. It’s really very sexy. Who hasn’t fallen for the wrong person? It’s like, ‘I know that this is the last person I should let my heart go to, but it’s already gone.’”

So far, audiences seem sold on the film, sight unseen. Twilight cost $37 million to make, but judging from the groundswell of support from Meyer’s fans—many of them teenage girls—producers should have little trouble recouping their costs, especially considering the ensemble cast of young male heartthrobs they’ve assembled. Meyer may not be J.K. Rowling, but she’s certainly no slouch. The final book in the series, Breaking Dawn, sold about 1.3 million copies on the day it was released last August (about a sixth of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ first day). Translation rights to the books have been sold in thirty-three different countries, and the second, New Moon, spent thirty-three weeks on the New York Times children’s best-seller list. Vampire stories have some staying power—especially vampire stories about lovelorn kids.

In adapting the first book, Hardwicke and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg opted to stay faithful to Meyer’s narrative. (Probably a wise decision, considering how rabid the readership is.) Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is an average teen living in Phoenix who decides to move to her father’s house in Forks, Washington, a dreary place where it rains three-quarters of the year, to give her mother and her new stepfather time to travel. At school, Bella meets Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), an alluring and initially distant presence, whom she begins to suspect is a vampire. As it turns out, Edward belongs to a coven of beautiful vegetarian vamps—a family of sorts, brought together by a shared mandate to drink animal blood instead of the human kind.

The two begin a relationship, fraught with all the usual, uh, interfaith difficulties. Meanwhile, a rival group of equally beautiful but less friendly bloodsuckers descends on the town, one of whom decides to hunt Bella for sport. The chase is on, and it’s up to Edward to save her. “It’s just such a great metaphor for unrequited love,” says Rosenberg. “Bella feels very normal, and that can be hard when she’s surrounded by these modelesque figures, who are so difficult to relate to physically. It’s the same for any kid growing up in L.A., when you’re surrounded by models and actors.”

Perhaps energized by the beauty-myth subtext and the allure of forbidden love, Meyer’s fan base has proven to be an active one. Groups like Twilighters, Twi-Hards, and even Twilight Moms have organized online, and in July they flocked to San Diego’s Comic-Con, where Meyer, Hardwicke, Rosenberg, and members of the principal cast showed footage and took questions from the crowd—at least when they could be heard over the screams. The response to actors Robert Pattinson, Cam Gigandet, and Taylor Lautner was “a little like the Beatles on Ed Sullivan,” Rosenberg recalls. “It was insanity.” The coming-of-age story’s sequels have yet to be planned, but given the reaction so far, Hardwicke is sanguine about her chances of revisiting the series. “I mean,” she says, “who wouldn’t want to be bitten on the neck by a handsome vampire?”

The pictures are after the cut!

xlormp, The Most Popular Book in the Whole World has been featured in Livejournal’s Spotlight and is gaining fame. It is a parody of the Twilight series, but not in a condescending or mean way. I recommend you read it, because it has been the source of my tummyache for the past few days.

Surprise surprise! We’re going to have an unauthorised biography of our dearest Robert Pattinson!

Attention Team Edward!

On October 21, the Bowen Press imprint at HarperCollins Children’s Books will publish Robert Pattinson: Eternally Yours by Isabelle Adams, an unauthorized biography of Robert Pattinson, the actor who plays Edward Cullen in the forthcoming movie version of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight.

The paperback original, which is the only biography of the actor on the market, was originally scheduled to be published November 4, but when the Twilight film moved to November 21 from December 12, HarperCollins adjusted its pub date as well. Harry Potter fans may also remember Pattinson as Cedric Diggory in two of the films.

(Credits to Children’s Bookshelf.)
It is already available for pre-ordering on Amazon.com, and you can see the cover of the book here.

We have a new picture of Edward and Bella! Click here to see it.

Many articles have been recently written about Stephenie Meyer’s decision to currently stop writing of Midnight Sun. NY Mag criticises Stephenie for this, citing the many advantages for the leaked chapters of the book. On the other hand, Twilight Guy steps up to defend the author who created this saga. Whose side are you on?

If you’re interested on how Stephenie’s directorial debut for Jack’s Mannequin’s The Resolution is going, MTV wrote an article on it. She’s using mermaids by the way, and from the looks of it, filming is going pretty well so far. :)

Rob was caught out and about again. He looked extremely drunk, and guess what? A girl tried to attack him! Watch the video here. Pictures of him over here.

Talking about him, TM-F did an article on Rob playing Salvador Dali in Little Ashes and asked if he could play a good Dali. What do you think?

The new cover of the book is out!

Pre-order only available at Barnes & Noble, but I’ll just put the link up.
Also, the Collector’s Edition of the book:
