Some of you might wonder why I’m reviewing a movie that is not Twilight related. Is it because it involves a wolf? Not at all. Red Riding Hood and Twilight does have a little bit of common ground – in the directing and acting. Catherine Hardwicke, the woman who brought Twilight to the big screens directed this movie and casted Billy Burke as one of the characters. (His acting was superb BTW) And just for your information, Leonardo DiCaprio produced this movie.
Red Riding Hood might seem like the innocent fairytale story we know of but looks can be deceiving. I watched the movie with my friend and I told her since Catherine directed this movie, it might looked a little bit like Twilight. And true enough, the first few scenes reminded me of Catherine’s creation of the Twilight world! Vast lands of pine trees, with snow covered mountains from a bird’s eye view – so Twilight! I was fangirling during that moment =P
The movie revolves around a young village girl named Valerie, played by Amanda Seyfried (love her BTW) whose village has been haunted by a werewolf.
Amanda Seyfried as Valere AKA Red Riding Hood
She’s best friends since childhood with a young lad by the name of Peter, played by Shiloh Fernandez. (My friend told me that he was one of the candidates to play the role of Edward Cullen, but oh well, Robert Pattinson, you’re still the best!) And as you all know, if you’re best friends with a guy, it always eds with love.
Shiloh Fernandez as Peter AKA Valerie’s childhood best friend
However, she’s caught in a love triangle as she is to be engaged to the village’s swordsmith’s son Henry, played by Max Irons. So when I noticed this, something clicked to my mind… this looks familiar.
Max Iron as Henry AKA potential husband to Valerie
Henry and Peter. And if you put Valerie in between.. well you get my drift
The village has been trying to catch the wolf but to no avail. See, the werewolf in this movie only comes out on a full moon. If it’s the night of the blood moon, aka red moon, it’s a danger to anyone who has been bitten. Once bitten, it’ll take you three days to be one. They asked the help of a Father Solomon played by Gary Oldman and well… you feel like kicking his butt for the way he acts around the village but oh well, karma bites him in the rear end.
When the werewolf appears, something clicked again to my mind. I’ve seen this before! Oh yes, New Moon! I’ll let you guys guess who the werewolf reminds you of from the Quileute wolfpack.
Valerie aka Red Riding Hood has the ability to communicate with this werewolf and the plot thickens.
This movie isn’t predictable and it makes you guess throughout on who is the “big bad wolf”. It’s a bit cheesy and cliched, on my part, but I’m not sure about you guys.
The revealing of the “big bad wolf” was surprising but the ending well, let’s just say that forbidden love rules all!
Twilight fans, you’ll enjoy it as there are scenes that will remind you of Twilight and our beloved trio – Edward, Bella and Jacob! And some of the lines too!
Parents, a word of caution! The movie is highly sensual and well gross in some parts. The fairytale that we all love is not at all similar to the movie well except for “Grandma, what big eyes you have” and you know the rest.
Enjoy the movie and if you have watched it, do comment about it on this post!
Twilighters! It’s confirmed! Robert and Kristen are dating as told by Catherine Hardwicke herself! For those who have The Straits Times (edit: Washinton Post and TIME magazine), flip over to the LIFE! Section and turn to page F26. For those who don’t here’s the quote from Catherine herself.
Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke said the film’s co-starts Kristen Stewart, 19, and Robert Pattinson, 23, are dating. ” I didn’thave a camera with in the hotel room,” she told time magazine. “But in terms of what Kristen told me directly, it didn’t happen on the first movie… it took a long time for Kristen to realise, okay, I’ve got to give this a go and really try to be with this person.“

MSN has a picture gallery of the New Moon casts promoting New Moon worldwide.
IT HAS been a hectic fortnight for Twilight trio Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Kristen Stewart as they embarked on a worldwide tour promoting their wildy-anticipated movie, New Moon. The trio were joined by the film’s director Chris Weitz, who was protective of the young bunch as thousands of fans and media track their movements throughout the journey.
You can read more about it here.
You’ve seen Stephenie Meyer on Oprah. Examiner.com now has a write-up about the interview.
When she spoke about The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Meyer stated that she was most excited about the first scene she saw with the wolves. She said that the way that the film brought out the size and power of the wolves had her literally wanting to scream out loud with joy at the capture Chris Weitz had done with the picture.
She also revealed, exclusively to Oprah, the origins of the New Moon Volturi. She said that the New Moon story originally had a very tame and mild ending, but that her mother was the one to suggest a more action-oriented sequence near the end. This is, according to Stephenie Meyer’s revelation on Oprah, how the Volturi came to be.

Whoa! Check this out! A NEW Bella & Edward Promotional Image! Soo cantik!!
The picture was revealed in a 5 page TIME Magazine article by Lev Grossman titled, Its Twilight In America. This article pretty much chronicles Twilight’s history and how it became a phenomenon of modern pop culture of our time. MUST KEEP Magazine!
The woman who would publish meyer, Megan Tingley, was handed the manuscript in November 2003, right before she got on a cross-country flight to California. She wasn’t expecting great things. She’d never heard of Meyer. Nobody had. She wasn’t a vampire fan either.
But she spent the entire flight riveted by that 600-page bundle of paper. “I kept thinking, Well, she can’t possibly sustain this,” Tingley remembers. “The whole book is going to fall apart. She’s a first-time writer. I was with a colleague, and he was trying to sleep, and I kept pulling him awake and reading passages to him.”
Even though it was an early draft — back then Bella and her undead boyfriend Edward actually got married at the end — by the time she got off the plane, Tingley was desperate to buy it. But it was a Friday, and everyone was gone for the day. “So I just left a bunch of insane messages back at Little, Brown and with the agent and said, ‘Call me Monday. We have to talk!’” she says. “I pre-empted it on Monday from a street in San Francisco on my cell phone.”
… Little, Brown published Twilight on Oct. 5, 2005. It printed 75,000 copies, a generous but not stupendous number. “All the signs were there, but at the beginning they were modest,” Tingley says. “The sales kept getting a little higher each week. It wasn’t a gigantic phenomenon overnight — I think people think that now, but it wasn’t.” Lori Joffs, a stay-at-home mom in Nashville, read it three months later. Like Meyer, she’s a Mormon, but she’d put off starting the book because she didn’t think a Mormon writer could do vampires. “I read all night, closed the book, took a deep breath and opened it back up to reread several chapters,” she says. Joffs went looking online for other people who felt the same way, but she didn’t find many. So she put up her own website, the Twilight Lexicon, which now attracts more than 50,000 visitors a day.
New Moon was published on Sept. 6, 2006, less than a year after Twilight. Little, Brown printed 100,000 copies, a modest increase, but the company quickly realized something had changed. Advance copies were popping up on eBay for hundreds of dollars. Meyer’s readings were turning into mob scenes. “We were outside Philly at a suburban Barnes & Noble,” Tingley says. “The kids had been cutting school to get these tickets and waiting in line forever. When Stephenie came out, these girls next to me started trembling and crying and grabbing each other. It was crazy … it was like the newsreels of the Beatles or Elvis.” When Eclipse came out a year later, the publisher printed a million copies.
…But Hardwicke saw something there, and she wanted in. She read the Twilight books. Then she threw the Paramount script away and called Rosenberg, who worked with Summit before, and they started over. She also began the hunt for her leading couple.
Hardwicke spotted Kristen Stewart in Into the Wild, in which Stewart makes a brief but indelible appearance as a roller-skate-skinny underage seductress. Hardwicke flew to Pittsburgh, Pa., where Stewart was making Adventureland. “We spent four hours working on scenes and running after birds in the park and playing. The next day when I saw the film, I knew, yes, it has to be. She is Bella.” It was a good match for Stewart too. “It was like, wow!” the actress remembers. “I want to play like this all the time!”
… Selling Pattinson to Summit was tougher. He wasn’t a star — his biggest role was Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire — and he didn’t look like a star. “He was disheveled,” Hardwicke says. “He was a different weight. His hair was different and dyed black [he had just played Salvador Dalí in Little Ashes]. He was all sloppy. The studio head said, ‘You want to cast this guy as Edward Cullen?’ I said yeah. And he said, ‘Do you think you can make him look good?’ I said yes, I do.”By all accounts, the chemistry between the two leads was intense, maybe too intense. “After I cast him, I told Rob, Don’t even think about having a romance with her,” Hardwicke says. “She’s under 18. You will be arrested.” It was the beginning of the real-life are-they-aren’t-they, did-they-didn’t-they speculation that is now an ongoing subplot of the Twilight story. “I didn’t have a camera in the hotel room. I cannot say,” Hardwicke says. “But in terms of what Kristen told me directly, it didn’t happen on the first movie. Nothing crossed the line while on the first film. I think it took a long time for Kristen to realize, O.K., I’ve got to give this a go and really try to be with this person.”
Covered by the Risky Biz Blog, they did on Catherine Hardwicke’s Post-Twilight Projects.
The CAA-repped Hardwicke prominently separated with Summit late last year after the release of “Twilight,” as the movie was on its way to nearly $200 million in global boxoffice. The company went on to hire Chris Weitz for the second pic, “New Moon,” and David Slade for the third movie, “Eclipse.”
Hardwicke’s split from Summit became fodder for the blogosphere, but, in the end, whatever the disagreement with the indie, it hasn’t jeopardized her career.
In fact, Hardwicke has a wide range of options that might not have been expected after the Twilight saga.
MTV Movies Blog has more on the Real Forks doing a ‘Twilight’ Documentary.
“The full title is ‘Twilight in Forks: The Saga of the Real Town,’ ” explained producer York Baur, revealing details exclusively to MTV about the soon-to-be-released flick, whose existence has remained a secret — until now. “It’s a documentary about the town and the impact of the ‘Twilight’ phenomenon on the town. It’s a DVD that is shot in full HD, and it’s going to be available to the public on October 15.”
From now until that date, Baur and director Jason Brown will be unveiling exclusive sneak peeks of the film on MTV.com every Tuesday — continuing to lift the veil on the first-ever “Twilight” documentary.
“Everybody that’s a fan of ‘Twilight’ has a vision of what Forks is like,” Brown said of the real-life Washington town where Stephenie Meyer set her vampire-romance saga. “In the movie, we get a peek at that. But in fact, they didn’t shoot the ['Twilight'] movie in Forks. So we’ve gone actually out to Forks. And you’ll get a chance to meet some of the real people and see some of the real places that are featured in the story.”
Here’s an up and coming Canadian singer who started getting famous after meeting Rob and the Juno FEST!
Catherine Hardwicke tells us that Bryce Dallas Howard was given the opportunity to be in Twilight but somehow she rejected it at that point of time:
“I know we originally asked Bryce Dallas Howard to do the first movie, but she thought it was too small a part at the time,” says Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke at the Teen Choice Awards taping yesterday.
Catherine has this to say about how much Rob/Kristen lives has been publizised all over:
“they’re both such Indie spirits and so independent and I feel bad for all the craziness.” “They’re really artists, you know, and they really like making beautiful art.”
On the other hand, Taylor Lautner, as usual appreciates his fans for being so supportive in this fandom:

From MTV Movies Blog, Catherine was interviewed on the red carpet of Hollywood Life’s Young Hollywood Awards. Catherine Hardwicke Hopes To Reunite With ‘Twilight’ Stars.
“Some of the projects I’m doing, they would be in a completely different world — actually, sometimes even in a different time period,” Hardwicke said of the two films, which could return Stewart and Pattinson to the young-adult-fantasy realm that made them famous. “That would be fun. I’d love to do a number on them and transform them.”

# 5 – Robert Pattinson: He puts himself into this ‘gentle’ ’fetal like position’ to protect himself from the outside world. But then again, he has the guts to portray a gay artist named Dali and a bland, almost fatalistic guy named Art in a movie named How To Be. Is he Hollywood’s next golden boy?

Furthermore, MTV also has another post Catherine Hardwicke and why Robert deserves the Breakthrough Male Award for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.
Robert has that soul, that passion, that depth. He’s a very interesting person in his heart and soul. The movies he watches are weird independent films and foreign films; the books he reads are these great, obscure things. He’s a musician, an artist, and he’s very special and unique,” she explained, making his case as a true Hollywood breakthrough. “I can’t wait to see what he does next.”

And finally, E! Online interviews Andy Samberg who will be hosting this year’s MTV Movie Award. He talked about Twilight and of course the movie awards!
Yeah—I forced Andy Samberg to jizz. OK, how many times have you seen Twilight?
I’ve seen Twilight once. But I’ve seen scenes from Twilight many times in my dreams. You know what I mean? In a lot of ways I see Twilight constantly every day, because once you see it, it stays with you forever.
When I reported that the Movie Awards will include a first look at New Moon, fans went crazy. People are insane about it.
They love playing baseball! What’s not to love? If you told me that we were going to make this movie about vampires that are really, really good at baseball, I would say, “Sign me on!”
Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?
Edward all the way.
Why is that?

It seems that the Cullens (ie Alice and Edward), Bella, the Volturis are all set in Montepulciano to start the Volterra shoots. The cast & crew met up yesterday and had a sumptous Italian lunch. Check a whole gallery of pictures at Radaronline and MrPattinson.com.
And it seems that the cast had also gone for a tour of the set as well. Most probably for a final rehearsal and eventually filming this next few days. Radaronline has some behind the scenes photos with Chris Weitz showing Kristen the filming site.
…The tests of the Porsche were seemingly never-ending, they really wanted it to be perfect. They did not overlook even the smallest detail: everything -from the placement of the car to all the car sounds- had to be just right. They even were overly careful with all the red flags placed around Montepulciano. The crew was sweaty and shouting us to get in our places, to which we obliged. Bill (Weitz’s assistant) was always calm and smiling, every once in a while stopping to talk to us on set….
, and all came so they could have a chance to be in this movie. To all the Twilighters who traveled from far away to be here, you all deserve a round of applause….

..Tell us about the baseball scene. We’re told you were not very good at it.
Who told you that?! I suck at baseball. For some reason, Catherine wanted me to be like a pro, and I thought, Why? Edward is a vampire, why would he have to play baseball perfectly? I never understood it, and I always questioned it. He doesn’t need to want to play, know the rules or need a bat, but Catherine said this scene was more about representing the union of a team, the union of a little community ready to defend and support each other. But yeah, I’m terrible at it. Don’t be surprised if one day you see people dressed as vampires playing baseball (laughs) that would be weird. That what be weird. But for me that was the hardest scene to shoot.
Catherine seems to be one of the most human directors out there.
Definitely. Eventhough I did argue with her over certain scenes, most of the times I agreed with her. There’s even some thing about the way she directs that are so new to me, that I couldn’t disagree with them. For instance, in the script or in the way we would structure a scene. The point is that when you’re an actor you should merge your suggestions with the original ideas, and realizing who your director is, otherwise the job becomes stressful and it’s horrible arguing against everything.
Are you looking forward to New Moon?
Definitely. I filmed Twilight not thinking it would become a trilogy, so if the first movie captured people, the sequel will immortalize the characters and their stories.
The New Moon Ladies ie Ashley, Kristen and Dakota were seen lunching at Montepulciano when not before long they were caught by fans and of course the papz. See the report and pappz pictures over at Celebrity Gossip.
We hope the cast & crew continue to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather and their time in Italy!!

Everybody wants to know where his pea coat came from!” exclaims the costumer. Unfortunately, it is a one-of-a-kind piece (er, sort of: three to four were made for filming purposes) which Chuck herself crafted after not being able to find the perfect one. ”We needed the right fit, [and] I couldn’t find anything in the right shade of gray,” she recalls. ”Catherine [Hardwicke, the director] is really big on back story for her characters and anything that can help that, even if it’s in a texture or color of clothes.” After considering ”probably 20 swatches,” Chuck went with one from Mood Fabrics and based her final design on a combination of other styles of pea coats. In the end, his turned out as ”a classic shape with a modern twist.

Later, as the Twilighters chanted down the minutes to midnight as if it were New Year’s Eve, Ashley appeared. They went nuts. She ducked inside the Hot Topic, jumped behind the counter, and started greeting the fans as they picked up their DVD. There were lots of hugs, shrieks, and tears of joy – but enough about me.

MTV has an article stating that Catherine Hardwicke won’t be returning to ‘Twilight’ franchise.
“I think it’s healthier to have a new person do [each one],” explained Hardwicke, who was recently replaced for the sequel “New Moon” but had some fans holding out hope she might return for the upcoming “Eclipse” or “Breaking Dawn” films. “I’ve loved all the different directors that did the ‘Harry Potter’ [films], because each one had their own cool style and energy, so I think that’s good. And I’m moving on to other projects.”
Celebuzz has an article about Bobby Long recalling the times with Robert before Twilight.
“The weather is perfect for us: rainy, dismal, in the sense of the visuals, the mist on the ocean, the cloudiness, the erratic wind activity,” said Bill Bannerman, New Moon’s co-producer. “Everything is exactly what it should be.”
Cast members Kristin Stewart, who plays Isabella Swan, and Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob Black, arrived in Tofino by bus Thursday.
Poor weather prevented them from flying directly to Tofino from Vancouver. So they flew to Nanaimo and drove west across Vancouver Island.
Under rainy, gray skies, filming kicked off Thursday afternoon at the rugged and rocky South Beach, located near Wickaninnish Beach inside Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
Cast and crew returned to South Beach Friday morning, before moving to Incinerator Rock at Long Beach, where Parks Canada closed down a parking lot popular with surfers for movie crews.
Bannerman said the crew needed to shoot a couple of scenes that would bridge the story’s second act and show the characters evolving personalities and relationships.
In conclusion, it was mentioned that filming will wrap up only at the end of May and the movie, as we all know, will hit theaters in November 20th in the US. If you missed out on our entry regarding New Moon’s release date in Singapore, check it out here!

Chuck The Movie Guy has a review of the Twilight DVD (Blu-Ray):
EOnline has an article – Kellan Lutz: How Robert Pattinson Gets The Girls. Kellan Lutz called into Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to promote the Twilight DVD.
“Rob is the lead, but you’re the better-looking Cullen,” Ryan bravely admitted to Kellan, at the risk of infuriating millions of Robert Pattinson loyalists.
“Ooh, I need to hang out with people like you more often!” exclaimed Kellan, who then (wisely!) proceeded to share some kind words about his celluloid sibling…
The Vancouver Sun has an article about Rachelle on playing Victoria for Twilight and New Moon, again.
I wanted Victoria to be playful and powerful, but not a sociopath. There’s no pathology to her evil. I think she’s just an example of what happens when you have absolute power: It corrupts absolutely,” she says.
Victoria’s role gets a little heftier in New Moon as she seeks to avenge Bella Swan for the death of her lover, James, but Lefevre says it’s not about the cumulative screen time. She just feels lucky to be a part of such a great project.

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke remembers the exact moment she decided to say no to New Moon.
“I was in Paris with Rob [Pattinson] and Kristen [Stewart] at dinner and talking to them and it was like, ‘Is this really the schedule? Would we really be starting 10 and a half weeks from now?’ ” Hardwicke told me yesterday in Santa Monica at the launch event for her new book, Twilight: Director’s Notebook. “Yes, we would, for various reasons which I respect, but I really thought it would be better for somebody else, who hadn’t just been working every day for two years without a day off.”

MTV has an article about the Twilight cast surprising the fans at the upcoming DVD release parties.
Likely included in these drop-ins are director Catherine Hardwicke and the vampire Laurent himself, Gathegi. “I’m going to sneak into one,” he grinned when we asked him about his plans recently. “I don’t know which one I’m going to yet, but I just got off the phone with Catherine, like, a few hours ago, and she might be going to one.”
