New Novella by Stephenie Meyer: Bree’s Story
![]()
No.ve.la (noun, plural): a fictional prose narrative that is longer and more complex than a short story; a short novel. [As defined from Dictionary.com]
That’s right! Stephenie Meyer has written a short novel on the life of Bree Tanner! For those who are clueless to who Bree Tanner is, she is one of the characters in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse novel whom The Cullens encountered during the last few chapters.
We were anticipating for the The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide but Stephenie Meyer had a reason why it was delayed:
“I’m as surprised as anyone about this novella,” said Stephenie Meyer. “When I began working on it in 2005, it was simply an exercise to help me examine the other side of Eclipse, which I was editing at the time. I thought it might end up as a short story that I could include on my website. Then, when work started on The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide, I thought the Guide would be a good fit for my Bree story. However, the story grew longer than I anticipated, until it was too long to fit into the Guide.”
As a special thank you to fans, Meyer is giving them exclusive access to the novel on a dedicated website, www.breetanner.com, from June 7 to July 5, 2010 where fans from around the world will be able to read the book online in English. “I’d always considered The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner as something for the fans,” said Meyer. “They have been so supportive of all things Twilight.”
You can read more about the novella over at Twilight Lexicon and also at Stephenie’s own website! And don’t forget that starting from noon from June 7th to July 5th, the novella will be available online on www.breetanner.com as a thank you from Stephenie to her fans! We definitely can’t wait!!

Steph, I look forward to Bree’s novella too but the wait for Midnight Sun has been giving me sleepless nights. Can’t wait for Midnight Sun’s updates, please?
Now here’s another book for me to lose more sleep waiting for! With the sleep deprived marks under my eyes I could have passed as a vampire……

The beginning of Midnight Sun was leaked to the internet, and Stephenie Meyer ibasically said that she wasn’t going to finish it now. I must admit, I DID read some of it; It came in a bundle of all 4 books that I downloaded, which I only did so that I had a copy of them all on my laptop, even though I have bought all 4 books in hardcover, and 2 in paperback. And from what I read, which is admittedly very little, it seemed as though it was just Twilight through Edwards eyes instead of Bella’s, which is cool, but if that’s how the whole book is, I would personally be a bit disappointed, perhaps that’s just me though. So I suppose all I’m saying is don’t hold your breath for Midnight Sun, and perhaps (although I can NOT be sure) don’t get too excited for a book that picks up where Breaking Dawn leaves off. I am however super stoked for The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner. When her character was introduced, I immediately wanted to know more of her story. Thank you for all your hard work Stephanie, I am a straight male in my mid-twenties, and have caught a lot of s**t for loving these books so much. I hope more people will ignore the fact that the main fanbase seems to be teenage girls, and find out for themselves how amazing the story and writing are.
