Here’s Rob in a new photoshoot by Timothy White for his upcoming film, ‘Remember Me’:

Check out Taylor Lautner in Valentine’s Day:

A great read for K-Stew fans. For Kristen Stewart, this is her dawn by LA Times:

Call it a casting fluke, call it kismet. In both of her movies premiering at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Kristen Stewart portrays a 16-year-old runaway.

For the gritty family drama “Welcome to the Rileys,” the “Twilight Saga” star inhabits a role quite unlike Bella Swan, the long-suffering vampire-lover character that made Stewart an international icon. She plays Mallory, a stripper-hooker with a porn star’s wardrobe and a mascara-tarred visage whose sexual frankness could make a trucker blush.

In the high-octane coming-of-age drama “The Runaways,” meanwhile, Stewart portrays real-life proto-punk Joan Jett, who co-founded the all-girl teenage rock band called — you guessed it — the Runaways at age 16. In the film, Stewart’s character snorts cocaine, makes out with costar Dakota Fanning and drunkenly urinates on an electric guitar.

In this next article from MTV, Kristen compares her role in ‘Welcome to the Rileys’ and ‘Twilight’:

In an earlier interview with MTV News, the actress argued that even though the film presents her in a far different light than the “Twilight” films, fans of the vampire franchise will find much to connect with in “Rileys.”

“Most ‘Twilight’ fans are young girls, and this is a really, really good story for them,” she said. “It just sort of opens your eyes. You just don’t have any options.”

Dakota & Kristen is featured in EW for being the Stars of Sundance. Thank you ___thatshott via lion_lamb.

Updates from Stephenie Meyer

Here’s an update from Stephenie with regards to Haiti, music/books/movies recommendation! & have a great Weekend all! :D

Hope your new years have all started off right. A few unrelated things:

- I’ve been very impressed with the world in general and the Twilight fansites in specific in the support and love everyone is giving Haiti. It’s amazing to see how Twilight fans have come together to help. You are wonderful people. At this point, I think it’s important for all of us to remember that the situation in Haiti is not going to be cured overnight, so… keep up the good work, and let’s all keep the Haitians in our thoughts and prayers.

- A new book recommendation: I recently read and adored The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. It was one of those books that feel absolutely perfect and satisfying, and when you finish it you sit around wishing that you could find another book just like it.

- I realized that there was an egregious oversight on my music recommendation page. How have I never listed Metric? That’s crazy. Anyway, Fantasies was one of the best albums of 2009.

- Finally, a movie recommendation: Dear John comes out Friday the fifth of February. Thanks to my cool friend Wyck (who many of you have seen in various Twilight Saga interviews, as he is one of the producers on our movies, and who is a producer on Dear John) I got to see this one early. I will confess, I cried. Also, I discovered Channing Tatum, who I’ve somehow missed until now. Likey. Lots. Amanda Seyfried is entrancing as always, and the chemistry (chemistry is always the crux of a movie for me) between them is lovely. Though the chemistry between Channing Tatum and Richard Jenkins (who plays his father) was my favorite part.

Have a great week!

Steph

Eclipse News

It  is small but Eclipse NEWS indeed!! Check it out!!

Its the second Tweet! He’s screening the first director’s cut of the Eclipse to Summit! This means the complete movie – the way David Slade wants it to be. Which may or may not be the version we will see in the cinemas. Summit will have a say and changes may be made. So we still have to wait.

Here’s a short write up of what a Director’s Cut is:

A director’s cut is a version of a film that is released after the original cinema version has been shown. The director’s cutis supposedly the version that the filmmaker thinks is the most true to the film he or she intended to make. The original cutting or editing of the film may have been taken out of the director’s control.

Many film studios give directors final cut. This means that the director ultimately has the say in what is shown in cinemas. However, even if the director thinks they have final cut, a studio may still decide to cut down the film or to add certain scenes. This may occur for a number of reasons.

One very powerful organization in the film industry is the MPAA. This anonymous group of industry executives decides what ratings films will receive, and as a result, what audience films will attract. While an original release of a film may be edited to maximize viewership by earning a PG-13 rating, the director’s cut may include more risque material, and will be released after the original, or in supplemental form such as DVD.

When a film is finished, many studios run a test screening for an audience. The audience are given ratings cards, which have numbers that the audience ticks in order to rate the film. If the test screening is given a low rating, the studio may decide to recut the film in order to increase the ratings.

Many directors hate test screenings. They say that you cannot gauge a proper rating of the film from a single screening for a select amount of people. However, the studios take these screenings very seriously. Low ratings mean low performances in the theaters, which translates into lost revenue. Scenes may be reshot, added or cut depending on the producer’s thoughts on the film.

Harvey Weinstein, a producer at Miramax films, was notorious for cutting films. The habit earned him the name Harvey Scissorhands, but nine times out of ten, his cutting made a positive difference to the films’ popularity ratings. Weinstein cut down the running time of certain films to make them more accessible to a film audience.

The director’s cut usually includes deleted scenes, and there may be a different ending to the film. Studios often want happy endings to films, and this can be directly opposed to the director’s cut. In many cases, director’s cuts are released by the studios themselves on DVD to gain more revenue from a film. The cut that was seen originally in the cinema may have been the director’s intended version.

Studios may add scenes that were deleted for a reason with the sole intention of making more money. Sometimes, placing deleted scenes back into a film does not enhance the film at all. It may detract from the pace and storyline of the film. Nevertheless, if a studio can make more money by marketing the film as a director’s cut after the original, they will do so.

Which version of a film is superior is up to the viewer. A famous director’s cut was made by Ridley Scott of his film Bladerunner. Scott shortened the film, changed some scenes and completely deleted a voiceover narration by Harrison Ford. Many critics think that the director’s cut is superior, but audiences at the time, if they cared at all, were divided.

In the end, it is up to the viewer to decide whether he or she wishes to pay extra for a different version of the film. The director’s cut can sometimes add up to thirty minutes of extra footage. However, in some cases, the film may only be a few minutes longer than the original.

Kristen Stewart says “David Slade is a technical director”:

Sources: Hitflix, Twilight Examiner

While at the Sundance Film Festival promoting The Runaways (in which she portrays rock legend Joan Jett alongside Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie from the band of the same name), Kristen Stewart was kind enough to share her views on the forthcoming third leg to the Twilight saga films, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Particularly, Stewart shared her opinions onEclipse‘s director, David Slade, who fans of the series have come to know only through his use of the social networking site, Twitter.

Said she about Slade, according to HitFlix, “He’s a very technical director. Very.” Stewart continued on to describe Slade as “thoughtful,” “conceptual,” and “deliberate.”

We’re excited and definitely can’t wait for June. He will bring something different to the plate!

Eclipse News

Howard Shore fans rejoice! Howard Shore will be composing The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie score:

Howard Shore is on board to compose the original score for the third film in the Twilight series, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Temple Hill Entertainment today confirmed to MovieScore Magazine that the Lord of the Rings composer is going to write the music for the film, following in the footsteps of Carter Burwell (who scored the first film in 2008) and Alexandre Desplat (who wrote the music for the second, New Moon). Shore has begun work, spotting the movie, this week.

Howard Shore is, of course, best known for the Tolkien trilogy, directed by Peter Jackson, an epic work that is currently touring the world in concert form, performed live to projection. Shore also recently rescored the Mel Gibson action thriller Edge of Darkness for Warner Bros, replacing John Corigliano. This film is opening in the US next week.

Great! Perhaps we’ll be having the trailer out soon enough now that Howard Shore is on board!

Q & A with Mdm Lim ( courtesy of Volvo Singapore)

What was your reaction when you heard you won the Volvo C30?

I didn’t believe that it was true. I called my husband immediately. After speaking to him and verifying the details, I was really happy that I won!

Did you watch New Moon so that you could stand a chance to win the Volvo C30?

Not really, my son is a fan of Twilight so I brought him for the movie. However, it was raining heavily on the day which we wanted to go and we had second thoughts about going for the movie. I’m glad that we went for it now!

What are your plans for the car?

We haven’t finalized the plans yet as I am still deciding with my family.

What do you like most about the Volvo C30?

When we told our friends about it, safety and the numerous awards which Volvo received for being safe was always mentioned. Volvo is really renowned for this and we are extremely happy to have won a Volvo.

What is your occupation/Do you currently own a car – if yes, what make?

I’m a home maker. Our family car is a Toyota Vios.

Mdm Lim has her son Brendan to thank for the Volvo C30 because he is a big fan of the books and was the reason she was watching movie! Oh how lucky!

Twilight News

In July last year we posted the news about the Twilight manga or the Twilight Graphic Novel which EW reported well they’ve got an update on it. Here’s the cover!

I’m delighted to announce, exclusively, that Yen Press will publish Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 on March 16, with a first printing of 350,000 copies.  Here’s a first glimpse at the book’s cover, as well as an exclusive peek at one of its panels (for a full ten-page excerpt, and the entire Q&A with Stephenie Meyer, see the issue of EW that goes on sale this Friday).

What strikes me, looking at the book, is how faithfully, and how beautifully, artist Young Kim has translated Meyer’s original vision. Kim, who has a fine arts background—in fact, this is her first foray into graphic novels—didn’t just read the book; she absorbed it. Her Bella is the Bella I had in my mind’s eye the first time I read Twilight; her Edward is the Edward I always imagined. It took me back to reading Twilight pre-movie: Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson faded into the background.

Meyer talked to us about all this, and more. Here are a few snippets from our conversation:

The text of your original novel is boiled down so carefully that it doesn’t feel like anything is missing. Were you the one who did that?

I was definitely involved.  I didn’t do the original “script” for the book, so to speak.  But when I got the dialogue with the images, I did a lot of tinkering. In a couple of places, I asked for missing scenes to be inserted.  For example, the conversation in the car that Bella and Edward have after she faints in Biology.

How does the feeling of reading the graphic novel compare to that of reading the original? Does it bring something new to the experience for you?

For me, it takes me back to the days when I was writing Twilight.  It’s been a while since I was really able to read Twilight; there is so much baggage attached to that book for me now.  It seems like all I can see are the mistakes in the writing.  Reading Young’s version brought me back to the feeling I had when I was writing and it was just me and the characters again.  I love that.  I thank her for it.

Read more and check out the sneak preview of the book at EW!

Twilight Lexicon has reported that you can actually Pre-Order your copy at Amazon! And they’re also posted the official press release from Little, Brown about the graphic novel.

As is typical in graphic novel publishing, due to the length of the prose novel, the book will be divided into two volumes and the release date for the second volume is forthcoming.

Twilight: The Graphic Novel contains selected text from Meyer’s original novel with illustrations by Korean artist Young Kim.  A rare fusion of Asian and Western comic techniques is reflected in this black-and-white graphic novel with color interspersed throughout.  Meyer consulted throughout the artistic process and had input on every panel.

Read it all at Twilight Lex.

New Moon News

More DVD news – this time The Twilight Saga: New Moon DVD for Japan. Its been posted on Twilighters Square that the Japanese DVD & Blu-Ray launch date would be on the 26th March 2010.

From what we understand, its a limited edition of only 10,000 sets and will definitely sell like HOT CAKES!! For Twilight’s DVD release, Japan had among others included a special picture book that contained GORGEOUS photos from the movie (image below -Thanks to ThinkingofRob.com) and this year with New Moon they are enclosing Micro SDCards that filled with ‘premium’ images from the movie! Soo cool right?!! We guess this’ll let you print out your own pics whenever or wherever you want. We’ll let you know once we find out more details about this.

Wanna see more of this (Twilight) SOLD OUT Limited edition box set – click here.

I think the Japanese got it right. I mean as a big fan I would want to have a book that has a lot of official high quality pictures from the movie that I can flip through without turning on my computer and searching for them in my saved files. Unseen images would be much better cos it means I got something exclusive. Furthermore, they have painstakingly compiled bios of the various cast members and tidbits from the production set. Its like they’ve broken down the Movie Companion and had a special book just for pictures and separate book just for other stuff. HAHA Lets be honest most of us enjoy just looking at the nice pictures.

This got me to thinking – with the many DVD Box/Gift sets that are going to be released for The Twilight Saga: New Moon or what you may have already bought for Twilight.. :) Lets do a poll!

Eclipse News

Collider.com caught up with Peter Facinelli during his TV press tour and set him down to talk Eclipse, Breaking Dawn and Nurse Jackie.

Although Peter Facinelli was at the current Television Critics Association (TCA) Winter Press Tour to promote the upcoming second season of his hit Showtime series, Nurse Jackie (premiering on March 22nd) following the panel presentation, talk immediately turned to his other role, as Dr. Carlisle Cullen, in the Twilight Saga films.

The Cullen patriarch talked about his larger role in Eclipse, which is his favorite book in the series, filming in Vancouver while also working on “Nurse Jackie” in New York, and how he’ll probably learn the status of Breaking Dawn on the internet before he gets the phone call about it from the studio. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Question: Does Carlisle have a lot to do in Eclipse?

PETER FACINELLI: Yes, he does a lot. A lot more than the first two films, for sure. You know, what I like about the third movie is that you get to see a side of Carlisle you haven’t seen before. You actually get to see what his vampire capabilities are because there’s some great battle sequences. It’s my favorite book.

When do you hear about Breaking Dawn?

FACINELLI: I don’t know. Usually the fans know before I do, so I’m sure I’ll see it on the internet before I get the phone call.

How do Twilight fans relate to you?

FACINELLI: What’s great is that, because I look so different from Carlisle, they’ve gotten to know me in a different way than Carlisle is. I’ve had this fan base go and look at some of the other work I’ve done and see how vastly different that work is. It’s fun for me that I don’t look like Carlisle and I’m not anything like him, so when people do meet me, they’re not confusing me at all with Carlisle.

What kind of doctor is Carlisle?

FACINELLI: Carlisle is the head of the hospital in Forks.

Is he good?

FACINELLI: He’s great. Carlisle, because he’s been around for so long, is very well educated. What I love about him is that he has a real love for humanity. People always ask me what kind of research I did to play a vampire. I say, “I did very little to play a vampire because I’m playing a vampire who’s trying to be human.” My research was more about what it is to be human and why he loved humanity so much that made him want to hold onto that. When you look at something like Twilight, the good vampires aren’t necessarily good. They’re just eccentric. The bad vampires are just doing what they’re born to do and made to do. It’s like domesticating a lion. For me, Carlisle doesn’t want to be a vampire, so he’s just really holding onto that humanity.

Reelzchannel.com has new interview with Bryce Dallas Howard!

And check out what Bryce’s dad has to say about her being in The Twilight Saga on Access Hollywood.

Twilight Examiner’s Amanda Bell has an exclusive interview with Tyson Houseman who plays Quil Ateara in The Twilight Saga: New Moon & The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Houseman took the time to speak to me about that fact, as well as his work in the  Twilight series films.

For starters, Houseman revealed that there really was some coalescence between the on-screen relationship between he and his wolfpack co-stars and that which existed off-screen.

Said he, “The relationship between myself and my cast members really did reflect the relationship of the characters, because when we filmed New Moon, I was the only character who was not yet part of the wolfpack, and so I had a different shooting schedule and different costume work and hair and make up etc. While we all became friends, I still did not get to see the rest of the guys as much as they did, and so they all had a bit more of a bonding experience than I did. Although during the filming of Eclipse, my character is part of the pack and so I got to spend a lot more time with the guys.”

Houseman revealed that, in staying true to himself, his real passion is in the world of arts, generally. Houseman talked about his background and current involvement in the arts, saying that he’d been “drawing and painting since [he] was a little kid.” “All throughout grade school, my notebooks had more doodles in them than actual notes. Art is an extremely important part of my life. I see art everywhere and in everything. I think that’s why I also enjoy photography so much, because I can find a certain type of beauty in everything that I see, and I need to capture that beauty. But as an artist, I try to be as ranged as possible. Acting is an art and it is also something I really enjoy. After I went to the open casting call for New Moon and got the part, I felt that an amazing opportunity was given to me, and how could I turn that down? This has opened up so many doors for me, and I plan on following through with it,” Houseman continued.

Being a part of the Twilight franchise, too, has offered Houseman a bit of heritage-based pride. “It makes me really proud of the fact that they were so specific about casting actors with Native backgrounds,” he said.

New Moon News

Summit Entertainment’s Twitter.com/Twilight has a winner for their New Moon Contest – who won a call from the director Chris Weitz!

Her name is Jenny and here’s the link to her Twitter and her livejournal account where she posted her conversation with Chris Weitz.

OKAY! so i won a contest, from Twilight’s official twitter.. so i’ve been communicating via phone and email with Summit Entertainment as to when the phone call will take place depending on availability.. and today was the day of the phone call!!

Chris said he was glad I won the contest and that he really enjoyed my questions! =]]

the following, due to demand and my own desire, are my questions and Chris Weitz’s answers! (some parts are paraphrased)

How nerve-racking was it to know you had to relocate several location for New Moon?

A.) It was really nerve-racking because I thought people would notice and be upset, it was a puzzle to get it just right. The outside of the school is all CGI, we built the stairway for the school and took stills. In the Cullen’s house I also tried to show different rooms in the house to add to the feeling of the house. When Taylor was traveling during Twilight a fan gave him a hand-carved Native American ornament. We used that ornament in Jacob’s room in New Moon.

How did you decide to shoot the scene where the months are passing by, considering the books only name the months that pass?

A.) We originally thought we could use a blank screen with names of the months passing but felt that it was best to portray depression visually. CGI was used and the windows were covered by green screen. We used a robotic camera for revolvement to mimic the original hand camera as much as possible. I’m not sure if you noticed but with each revolvement the room changes, there are less pictures of her friends and the room gets more sparse.

I really enjoyed the added scene with Victoria swimming towards Bella. (The book hints to the orange colour the water was reflecting, in a later revelation by Bella.) How did this scene come to be?

A.) Well, the orange coloured water wouldn’t have looked right in the scene so we put her in the water visibly. That scene was difficult because we wanted to film her swimming towards Bella but it had to be at a distance. If it wasn’t at a distance fans would wonder why Victoria didn’t just get her in that short scene, but at the same time it had to feel threatening. That was all shot in Vancouver in a swimming pool, we had the actors underwater with four or five frog men with air tubes for security purposes. We also had green screens in the water surrounding the actors so we could CGI in all the particals in the water. Theres actually a program to add in all of the floating debris and colour differences in the water after filming. Kristen had a cold at the time and was scared of drowning. We had to force her to stay in the water [laughter] But Rob was more comfortable in the water, hes had to shoot underwater scenes in the past. [Harry Potter]

She really had great questions for Chris Weitz. Head on to Jenny’s Livejournal for more!
