Billy Burke was AMAZING. He delivered his lines so well and accurately brought out the feelings of Charlie. His presence made the movie so much better. I honestly can’t picture anyone else as Charlie, and he definitely did not disappoint!

My least favorite scene would be the ending. I definitely preferred the book proposal scene in Bella’s room to the movie proposal.

Ashley Greene did a fantastic job with Alice, and Jasper’s southern twang was adorable.

My most favorite scene would have to be the first few months after Edward leaves. Kristen brought out the vulnerability of Bella and her lines, feelings and attitude were all believable. I could definitely feel her pain.

hahaha but the rest of the movie was seriously amazing. so amazing. the wolves were incredible.
i LOVED the volturi stuff. oh ma gawd. team volturi :p and i never doubted dakota fanning’s ability to be Jane. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED HER. and Michael sheen was impressive too..

thats about all i shan’t spoil! DEFINITELY WATCHING IT AGAIN. and maybe again. and perhaps again.

I think I say for all staff THANK YOU for all your support too!! :) :) :)

Okay before I forget must list down the things I LOVE about New Moon. Soo many Wows and Aahs this film made me do.

Was grinning to myself in the dark watching Robward’s ‘Slo – mo’ amble towards Bella ;) Utterly enjoyed that. Thank you Chris Weitz! hehe

Break up scene – I let the tears flow. Don’t wanna use the tissues! Bella searching for Robward in the woods with tears blinding her eyes. Her every aimless step forward was like another punch to her heart that brings realization that HE IS GONE….

The Missing Months Pages – Wished something better for this but this will do.

Taylor’s ‘goodness me – awesome acting’ made me like Jacob – dammit! That boy has acting chops especially ‘Angry’ Jacob in the rain – Gimme more of that please! Did you guys see him shivering in the rain?!! And his breath?! And he still did his acting beautifully. I read the interview but watching him was inspiring!
I love watching Bella’s smile when she’s with Happy Jacob.

OH Kristen you are beyond acting – you were natural! WOW Now I get what people are harping about her. I totally do! I can see clearly now.

Wolfpack – love em all! I wanna see more of them! Please..

Humans – though most of their scenes were comic relief – I love em all. They’ve all totally upped their performance. Mike Welch – I love your ‘sick’/'blur’ face.

HAHAHA did you guys listen to the dialog for ‘Face Punch’??!! “Lets Do This!!” Ratt-tattaat (machine guns) Not much of a dialog but awfully funny nonetheless.

Hunting for Victoria scenes – her red hair, THE FOREST/WOODS, Aerial POV – love the black crow that flew by as we watched Victoria run from the wolves.

Wolf Fight b/w Paul & Jacob – loved the sight and sound !

Emily & Sam – soo sweet!

OMG I those muffins were HUGE!

Chris Weitz letting us see Edward’s reaction in Rio de Janeiro after ‘the call’ – poor Nokia phone. Most important watching poor Edward – I see how crushed you were inside as that phone you crushed… :(

Meadow scene & meadow music – I cried . I think they re-shot that whole scene… in Twilight there was a tree nearby where Bella & Edward were lying.

Underwater Sequence where Bella touches he vision of Edward and he disappears in a swirl of mud – what’s the word ah – so beautifully poignant. Awww…

Okay Summit you’re gonna earn some of my money -again! Hopefully can win the Volvo at the same time!

Oh love the flashbacks from Twilight!

Volterra – My fave color everywhere & Heidi’s red dress. Vampires faces literally cracking! :) ARO’s girly/evil laugh!! Wanna hear that again! Tried doing it but can’t leh..

At the end where Bella said to Jacob along the lines “Don’t make me choose”…”Its always been him”. Was watching Jacob’s reaction — OW!! :(

Proposal – as if CW gave up and made this important scene so ‘bland’ when the whole of the movie was almost perfect…dunno why ..Hmm maybe he’s saving it for David Slade…

Reserve to add more to this ;)

    Can’t wait for the Marathon!!!!

I love the movie so much!!
The moment it ended i wanted to watch it all over again.
Looking from a non-twilight reader point of view, the movie can seem pretty long with the high points not being too climatic. So I see what the critics are driving at but for us fans (who really cares bout the non-fans anyways?!) Chris Weitz was a godsend! The movie played out just at the right pace that we like and skipped out the boring parts in my opinion, of new moon (SM does tend to get a bit indulgent imho) which can exist in a book but not on screen.
We had all the scenes we wanted to see visualize in all its cinematic wonders. I didn’t like New Moon as much on my 1st read as I just wanted Edward to come back but in my subsequent readings i found it was alright. I cld put up better with Jacob and can actually see his point. Edward’s pain was the most significant thing I derived from my New Moon readings, which is not saying much for Bella’s depression. Honestly, I was just irritated at her.

But watching the movie, i cld feel her pain. I cld feel the raw emotions that SM was trying to drive at. Kudos to Kristen’s acting here. she made it believable. A definite improvement from Twilight. Chris directives for this was great. Taylor played out his character well too except I wld have liked to see the playful banter more between the 2 of them. The underlying tone of the movie was intense and melancholy which is befitting the book.

I wanted more of Edward and I’m not talking bout the wispy ghosties floating ard! Also keeping to the book, there was only a little of him in front and at the back. He delivered a credible and heartwrenching break up scene (I can’t get enuf of it!) with the marblelike expressionless face and that wonderful wonderful split second that we glimpse at his pain when he kissed her before leaving.

The only complaint I have of the movie was that they had the Edward leaving Bella explanation immediately when they reunited and not dragged out till the end at Bella’s bedroom. It was the single most distinct and touching scene for me when reading New Moon and I wished it was played out in the movie. Sadly it was not to be. To have it put right there seems rather rushed and takes away the significance of Bella willing to sacrifice her life for Edward when faced with the Volturi even though she still thinks he doesn’t want her. It took away the uncertainness between them and the tension arising from it. I felt the movie did not draw out Bella’s desperateness at having Edward back in her life or his for that matter.

Alice’s dressing was bad though. just had to say that. she is the fashion guru! it’s bad to have her dressed like that!

The ending was great! Although some felt cheated by a cliffhanger ending, I felt it was the right thing to do to have fans thirsting for more immediately! And did u see his glorious expression with that smile we all love when he proposed?! arghh!! drives me mad!

so ya. that’s my 2 cents worth on the movie. It was great. I would say i love it more than the New moon book! hahah i know.. blasphemy..

n pple coming for the marathon, we gotta make more noise guys.. we gotta represent!

o god.. the premire yesterday was great! after new moon festa n yesterday premire, have know quite a few twilighters.. thx (: i feel that the movie was kind of rush at the volturi part.. i mean it seems that the front part was too long till it taken sme of the tym of the last part of the movie.. i tik the movie does not bring out the part tt bella desire to save edward.. the scene seems to be too fast to bring out the feeling.. the wolves r cute!!! but the sound effects nearly made me deaf.. marathon i might consider to bring ear stuck.. CW made fans craving for mre! the ending scene.. ahh .. how i wish i could carry on watchin the story.. but eclipse is still at the post production section ..krsiten acting is convincing.. the part where she ran after edward.. i nearly cried.. plus the music.. whoo.. great job.. but personally i tik tt the book brings out the feeling mre.. maybe bcoz there r not enuf tym for the movie so they rush it all out? n.. the muffins r huge… i tik 1 of it is a meal of mine.. or maybe halfway im alrdy puking.. too much of it lerhh.. kinda sad tt victoria is changed.. she has done a great job! looking forward to the marathon!

Robert Pattinson portrayed the “pained/toture” sequence BEAUTIFULLY…It was heart-wrenching to watch him writhe in pain >.<

Anyone studied filming noticed that there are too many jump-cuts?

i just caught New Moon just now and i must say it was AWESOME!!!! i must see it again and im considering bribing my sis or friends to go with me…lol

i totally loved the first part when edward was walking towards bella in school…OME, he is totally, totally cool and handsome!! *faints*

but i thot the part where bella told jake that he was beautiful after the motorcycle accident was kinda cheesy though….haha…and the whole cinema was kinda cheering when jacob took off his shirt…haha

and i like the last part when edward said that bella was stubborn…ooohhh, the facial expression was really damn sexy!!!

wat i didnt like about the movie was no enough of edward!!! i wanna see more of edward. but the wolves and their transformation was really cool and overall, it was a fantastic movie. (even my husband who is a non-twilight fan thot so too) i had to explain the movie to him cos he didnt read the book…haha

now, im thirsting for eclipse….sigh, gotta go get some more new moon fix soon!

I just watched New Moon again today after watching it on the 25th at the Gala Premiere and I was just as impressed! I still couldn’t believe that it was great. Twilight was a little disappointing and I actually got pissed off at some parts because the book was just too good and the movie, well, it was just okay. But I think Chris Weitz did a really good job with New Moon because I really liked it and I could even watch it a second time! (I’m gonna watch it again next week) Hehe. Didn’t like the ending though. I think I was one of the girls who shouted WTF. Hehe oops sorry about that. It would be better if Bella actually replied! It just ended off with her stunned reaction. Annoying. Haha but at least now I’ve got something to look forward to next year!

Oh and I honestly don’t know how there could be so many hot people in one movie. Seriously. The Cullens, the wolf pack and even some people in the Volturi! Super hot.

Hmm, some parts were a little cheesy though. But I could live with that. And the acting has tremendously improved. Kristen Stewart did a pretty good job in New Moon. Better than Twilight. And the fact that Taylor Lautner did some of his own stunts is really impressive. Super hot ex karate kid. Love him.

I really can’t wait to watch Eclipse! Especially with New Moon ending off like that! I loved the book. It was my favourite. I hope the movie will be just as good as the book though.

Overall, I’d rate New Moon a 7 out of 10. Its definitely worth watching more than once. And thank you Twilight Singapore for everything. Thank you for organising New Moon Festa. It was really awesome. I hope there will be another event for Eclipse or something. I’d definitely go! :)

I watch NewMoon on 26/11 and 29/11, and will be watching again on 03/12.

I think that the movie is better than Twilight. Chris Weitz did a fantastic job in the twisted part of the story and add the fighting scenes at the Volturi.. The Sparkle-effect of Edward is so much better cos I felt the one in Twilight sort of look like “perspiration”..
My favourite character for New Moon will be Alice and Jane..
Ashley Greene played well as Alice with the bubbly-ness and Dakota Fanning is very convincing as Jane’s and her “evil-ness”.. I thought Jasper is as always tense & funny…

However, I only got 1 complain and that is the make-up.
The make-up artist doesn’t do Edward justice, I still prefer Edward in Twilight.
And as for Jacob, his body is definitely AWESOME, but the hair is not..

I’m SOoooOoo Looking forward to ECLIPSE!!!

Great job by Chris Weitz, the crew and the cast but I think too many trailers and sneak peeks may have ‘spoilt’ it abit for me…esp wrt the breakup scene and the reunion scene in Volterra.

Having said that, I will definitely be going for repeat viewings back in S’pore as I watched this, my first time, with a somewhat sceptical hubby, who I had to drag along, ‘cos it was a late-night show in Tokyo and I needed his navigational skills to get to the theatre and back!
And when I do, I will either watch ALONE or with fellow Twi-Hards…aiyo… I had to keep answering his questions and putting up with his ‘poking holes’ in the story…so irritating! :P

Soundtrack and score were awesome; and one part which REALLY wrenched my gut was when Edward (in Brazil) received the call about Bella’s supposed ‘death’….which was not shown in any of the trailers, thank God!

As for Jacob…yes, Taylor did fantastically well! Can’t wait for Eclipse to see him and Rob face-off more!

The werewolves and Volturi scenes were AMAZING too!

Aww Jan!! Glad to hear from you! I love the Edward in Brazil scene too!! We totally clapped at the scene last night. It was not in the book but Chris Weitz gave it to us! :)

    December 2, 2009 at 4:05 am

  27. I cried. Twice, or three times, in the whole movie.
The first time at the break up scene (it was heartbreaking, and Robert’s performance was quite convincing, but I seriously can’t say the same for Kristen. It wasn’t good enough).

The second time at Jacob and Bella’s break up scene (now that was good. Kristen and Taylor did a good job there).

I felt that Chris did a good job, bringing a book’s story to life, and even better – making the emotions show ten times better.

From the movie, I could see the difficult love triangle between them three, I could see the rivalry between the Quilettes and Cullens. I could see Edward Cullen’s pain (Robert really really did an awesome job).

I also really loved the wolves. I know where were my favourite parts at.
    However, I have my complaints.

    1. I hated the fact that once more, Summit chose to NOT have subtitles.
I understand it’s the characters playing their part, speak soft/speak unclear, SO GIVE US SUBTITLES! It’s so difficult hearing what they’re saying!

    2. I really am quite unsatisfied with how Chris Weitz missed out some small yet important factors.

    rough reasons why-
+ Charlie’s lack of concern when Bella said she had seen wolves
    + Billy’s lack of persistence
+ Taylor Launter’s lack of facial expression gesture as Jacob (his eyes are really important at some parts, he needs to separate happy and sad)
+ Kristen Stewart’s lack of pain, desolation as Bella, who is withdrawn, on a huge emotional trainwreck and a person who “has a hole punched through her heart”. [there is, but it isn't enough]
+ Aro’s performance, different from the book – here in the movie he is a desperate, power seeking, thirsty, and in the book, despite looking scheming, he was at least nice, and understanding enough.

That is just my opinion of course.
I felt that the movie was definitely better than Twilight, and it followed the book more closely than Twilight, and I can see the romance much better :)

Thanks TwilightSingapore, for giving me a chance to catch the premiere!
