Answer to Week 7’s question:
The Volturi is equivalent to the royalty in the vampire world and they enforce the law. They have existed for about three thousand years, from 1300BC and reside in Volterra, Italy. The Volturi’s aim is to keep the vampire world hidden from the human world. If any vampire exposed themselves to humans, regardless if it was intentional or not, they will send others of their kind to eliminate them and their covens. The Volturi consists of their leaders, Aro — who can read a person’s thought just by touching them, Marcus — who can sense the strength of relationships between humans and vampires, Caius — who has no known powers. Aro, Marcus and Caius have wives — Sulphica, Athenodora and Didyme respectively. Didyme has the ability to make others happy. There are 32 Volturi guards — whom the most outstanding of them are Jane, Alec, Demetri and Chelsea. Jane is able to inflict illusions of pain towards her target, Alec is able to block other’s senses. Jane and Alec is a fabulous pair — doted by Aro, the leader. They often destroy vampires together. Demetri is a tracker — he can track anyone once he has the tenor of their minds. Chelsea can change emotional bondings — making it efficient when The Volturi is dealing with a large coven. Renenta has the ability to distract others, making people wander if they are near here, therefore acting as a “shield”.

What did the wolves listen to during workouts?
I brought my iPod in, and I had tracks that would help us get through the workout. We played the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage,” Metallica’s “Orion,” ACDC—that really pumped us up—some Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden, Nirvana. I like to workout to a lot of hip-hop, too.
You’re the oldest wolf in the pack.
Yeah, and it’s funny: I play the alpha wolf, the leader, and I kind of fell into that role. I don’t know how that happens. But I am the oldest—I had a few films under my belt—and I kind of helped some of the other guys. I’m very protective of them. If anyone tried to hurt them, I’d probably go ballistic. They’re good guys. We take care of one another. It was like freshman coming into high school; we were the new group. We all come from different backgrounds, too. We’re Native Americans and we have a different outlook on things. We didn’t come to mess around; we came with our A-game, and we definitely made sure our presence was known.

I think it’s wonderful fun. Now that I don’t write the Vampire Chronicles I feel free to enjoy it. I really enjoy the HBO series “True Blood.” When I was writing my own, I wouldn’t have wanted to be influenced.
On Twilight:
No, I haven’t read any of the Twilight Series, but I did see the film. I felt that it reflected the deep desire of young women to have the mystery and protection and wisdom of older men. I think many girls mature much earlier than boys, and they are frustrated when they approach young boys for love or protection. Hence the fantasy of a wise and protective vampire coming into the life of a young girl who, of course, appreciates him in a special way.

Sci-Fi TV Zone‘s RetroEd has an interview with Chris Weitz and here is Part One of that interview.
The enthusiasm of the fans and their support is really, really wonderful. The lack of cynicism is great! Especially with the kind of adaptations of beloved fantasy and sci-fi. I think with Twilight, you know, they really want you to do well. And they wanna support you as much as they can until given reason to believe otherwise.
I really do hope this one will expand the audience to people who are interested in films in general. Because its a really beautiful shot film, the effects are fantastic. And so, essentially my attitude was, you know, people are gonna go for a really good hamburger and instead they’ll get a kobe burger with a layer of foie gras on top…
… Well, I thought I had to maintain kind of, the immediacy of the relationships and the believability of them. Because I think that film (Twilight) really grounds the romance in the real world. And what I wanted to which is just you know, which is what I always want to bring, from being a fan of old movies really, and of classic films. So there is a lot less of hand-held camera, there are a more longer takes, that the colour palette is less restricted.
… I think the power is in Kristen’s performance which is at the same time utterly faithful to the book, but also singular to her. I mean she is extraordinary and in doing and acting in an incredibly high level basically. And frankly, the werewolves and the diamonds look, and all that stuff – is frosting….

What do you do when you’re a mini-major and the second film in your hot Twilight Saga franchise is opening next month? Well, if you’re Summit Entertainment, you send the New Moon cast on a 15-city nationwide tour from November 6th through 19th. All the resulting media coverage of huge crowds and fainting tween/teen girls is intended to help sell movie tickets and soundtrack CDs to the sequel opening November 20th.

Not to worry Twifans because according to Jackson Rathbone, there will be plenty of Edward in ‘New Moon’:
He also said fans shouldn’t worry about not getting enough Edward. As has already been announced and shown in the newest trailer, Bella has hallucinations about Edward, allowing Pattinson more screen time.
“I’ve heard people are concerned about Edward and the Cullens not being in the film, but Edward is very prominent in the film, especially in Bella’s mind. The way that [director] Chris Weitz worked it out is beautiful, and I think that people are going to love it,” Rathbone said – Source

Answer to Week 6′s question: Harry Clearwater is the father of Seth and Leah, and the husband of Sue. He died from an episode of heart attack, leaving behind the three of them. Charlie is a very good friend of Harry.
Edward wasn’t planning on living if Bella dies. That’s the way he wanted it to be when he chose to leave Bella.
So when Alice saw that Bella jumped off the cliff and then suddenly everything went black, she thought Bella died. In actual fact, Jacob arrived in time and saved Bella. Jake is a werewolf and Alice’s vision has flaws. She cant see creatures apart from humans(since she was one) and vampire (what she is now) Therefore, when Jacob appeared in the picture, Alice’s vision of Bella blanked out.
So, Alice quickly drove Carlisle’s black Mercedes down to Bella’s place. She was expecting an aggrieved Charlie, since she thought Bella committed suicide. However, she met Bella and found out about the truth.
Midway, Rosalie went on to inform Edward about what she heard from Alice (this was before she heard about the part where Jake appeared and saved Bella) while Jacob came over to Bella’s house. Alice then left to ease the tension and as well as let them speak. Halfway, Jake picked up a phone call. The caller was Edward, but he claimed to be Carlisle. Edward, thinking that Bella is dead, asked for Charlie and Jake replied that Charlie was at the funeral. In actual fact, Charlie was at Harry’s funeral, instead of what Edward thought it was – Bella’s funeral. Seeing that, Edward went to the Volturi. He chucked his phone away, leaving him uncontactable.
When Edward arrived at the Volterra, he asked to be killed. However, when Aro recognized his talent, he asked Edward to join him and regarded killing him as a waste. Since Edward carried a different set of beliefs as them, he did not join them. So he thought of provoking them into killing him. At first, he wanted to do a number of things that will cause the death of human lives, right on Saint Mark’s Day (which is actually Marcus’ day). However, he pushed aside those thoughts and finally settled upon showing himself out in the sun when the clock strikes noon.
