I agree with you, eavvate. It’s not like a Volvo is something you can buy from the mall. But it’s definitely a cool idea.
I really hope they have some kind of a fan promotional event here.
October 22, 2009 at 9:35 pm
Honestly, we people could not afford
Hopefully, that one day….we will have a fan meeting/session here in Singapore. To bring the whole lot of Twilight cast in Singapore is VERY EXPENSIVE, but we’re not giving up!

Awww….just get Jackson and his band to come!! This is his BIRTHPLACE, for crying out loud!!!
But…there’s still Eclipse and Breaking Dawn to go…surely they can’t keep going to Japan???
Keep working on it, gals!!
October 22, 2009 at 11:23 pm
Maybe Jackson doesn’t want to come here, or should i say cannot come here coz remember the rule where as long as ur born in SG, you have to serve NS?
hehehe.
October 23, 2009 at 12:05 am
thx 4 all your support.. ha.. its really too expansive to afford.. hope 1 day they will come to singapore n pls dun keep going to japan.. although singapore is small,we have to admit.. but the country also have it good points.. they should not look down on singapore juz bcoz it is small.. there r so many fans here too.. hope they can visit wif NO CONDITION applys..

Twilight S’pore shouldn’t support this…this contest tells me that being rich, you can get anything including those holy tickets to meet Rob in Tokyo. Come on…at least a fair contest without seeing how rich or how you can afford a volvo is better.
Bella, without Edward, life is nothing.
In Singapore, without $$, life is nothing.
Come to Singapore for Eclipse!!! <— Maybe we should campaign for it, yes/no?
October 24, 2009 at 11:17 am
Well it is natural for them to have this contest since I’m sure Volvo paid loads of money for the ad placement in the movie..
Best chance for us will be to camp at Volvo showroom see any uncles or aunties who happen to buy the car but don’t care for the meet and greet with Robert but just want to keep tickets to Tokyo xD Hell, I’d even pay for the 2 fan meeting tix!
Yeah, lets start a facebook petition to bring the crew down to SG for Eclipse!
October 24, 2009 at 11:41 am
HELL, YEAH!!!
October 24, 2009 at 5:44 pm
gif us the link n we will support it!!!we r so gonna bring the crew down for eclipse in singapore!!
October 25, 2009 at 1:33 am
WOOT…ON!!!
Facebook alone is NOT enough,…we need YouTube…physical campaigns to alert mediacorp…erm…ya…everything to get us (Singapore) noticed!!!
October 25, 2009 at 4:16 pm
yea i agree wif u ,pameline. juz bcoz we r not notice.. we should try anything lrgal online stuffs to bring alert to mediacorp.

Admins…you gals have contacts with Summit Entertainment and Shaw Org.
Use them!!
Singapore has so many advantages…we’re English-speaking; in a terrific location which is central and accessible to all the Asian countries; multi-cultural; we’ve hosted F1 and so many other major events and conventions; IRs are coming up; we’re efficient; we have a TREMENDOUS cinema-going population for such a small island; and we NEED to have a Twilight Saga premiere here AT LEAST ONCE!!!!!
October 25, 2009 at 10:31 pm
yeah, jan,i agrees. how can they ever miss singapore which hosted F1, the world event.but i dont think Summit Entertainment and Shaw Org would have the energy and time care about us,i mean they have the whole world to care for.same goes for mediacorp. can we have someone who have the power and right to tell them all about this?

Its not about not caring or ignoring Singapore. We have asked and will continue to ask and sell Singapore but the marketing of films or anything else for that matter boils down to money. How much would it cost to bring each cast member and their entourage here? Their plane tickets which has to be first class or business. Their hotel rooms and board? Transportation? Security? The cost of setting up events for them to attend? It has to be borne by those who invite them. Knowing their market, those parties involved have to be pragmatic and ask the question – would it really be worth it? On top of that the advertising costs and promoting costs the film? How much profit can the company really make if they decide to do this or do that?
Lets be realistic especially at this time, why does it have to be only for Twilight and not other big movies or productions? Japan has been chosen over and over again (even its not an English speaking country) because their market it utterly huge not only in terms of box office takings but also DVDs and merchandise sales. Its been proven. Its worth for them to show face there. Note that piracy is also a culprit as it is rampant in our region and production companies/studios lose millions in profits because some of us just wanna pay $2.00 for a movie that took a lot of blood & sweat to create. People in Japan only buy genuine DVD and piracy does not exist there.
For now we are trying to help to make it exciting and fun for fans here through organizing events and contest that you guys can take part in. There’s just soo many in-store that we want to burst!! Rest assured we also want them to come here and will continue to work towards that. 2 more movies to go!
Having the Twilight cast close down Orchard Road! Pictures of them on the red carpet with ION Orchard or The Esplanade or even The Merlion in the background sent around the world? We definitely want that for Singapore! Lets enjoy what we have now and who knows – something might just happen.
October 26, 2009 at 8:15 pm
Honestly, we did discussed this with the respective parties involved. But it would cost us a bomb to have them here. Yeah, I know. Our jaws dropped when we found out how much $$$$$$ is required to bring the whole cast down!
Who wouldn’t want a premiere here in Singapore?
Tom Cruise and co did came to Shaw Lido to promote his film, Vanilla Sky in 2001. That was because the cast was on transit so they dropped by to Singapore.
I believe Shaw will try their best and we’ll definitely keep in contacts with them. We still have Eclipse and….Breaking Dawn *cross fingers & toes*
As for Mediacorp, we’re in talks with them and trying to find out what do they have install for us.
October 26, 2009 at 8:19 pm
There is no way a independent fangroup can foot the bill to bring down any group or act. So only hope will be to convince Mediacorp that it is worthwhile to do so as mentioned above. Indicators such as ticket sale for upcoming New Moon will be crucial so do drag all your friends to watch it twice or thrice
But having a huge petition on facebook might be a good way to present to Mediacorp to show the large fanbase here in Singapore or potential fans who just need alil persuasion or hype to be converted.
Yup, very important point there. Buy original DVDs xD (Getting the soundtrack wouldn’t hurt either :X)
October 26, 2009 at 8:57 pm
The media in Singapore already knows that the fanbase in Singapore is huge, right after the Twilight screening last year.
Mediacorp will have something up their sleeves for the promotion of New Moon. What all of us saw previously on Channel 5 when they showed the exclusive New Moon trailer is just the beginning. So, I’m sure there’s more to come!
October 26, 2009 at 9:18 pm
Great discussion and points from the Admins…whom by the way, are doing an AWESOME job with the Twi stuff updates and promotions! Hats off to all of you!
Thanks for clearing the air about all the costs and nitty-gritties involved in an event of this kind.
Rest assured, we’ll keep supporting this amazing Saga, no matter what. There ARE still at least two more movies to go and who knows? There may be some fortuitious circumstances down the road (doncha wish we had Alice’s ability?).
I already know many people who didn’t watch Twilight but are totally intending to catch New Moon, after seeing the wonderful trailers and all the hype in the media(and from the fans like us!)about the cast, the director, the soundtrack, the books, yadayadayada…
Juz keep believin’, Twilighters!!!
October 26, 2009 at 9:50 pm
seems lyk we can only put our hope on mediacorp.. there’s no way for us to b able to foot the bill… juz hope that new moon would sell even better thn twilight and mediacorp finds the reason to foot the bill n bring the cast down.. pray hard tt they will do it… n i utterly hate piracy.. piracy is a indirect cause tt made the cast nt visiting singapore… LET’S ALL SUPPORT THE ORIGINALS N AGAINST PRIACY!!!!
October 27, 2009 at 5:40 pm
I’m pretty sure that New Moon will sell even better than Twilight. Come on! Don’t you all see the diff between ‘Twilight’ and ‘New Moon’. We all knew that. New Moon has definitely gained NEW fans this time round. And, piracy is not the major factor as to why there isn’t any premiere in Singapore. It’s not that the cast DO NOT want to visit Singapore. Summit Entertainment has the say in whether they will bring the cast over. Like what Maria wrote above, there’s ALOT of things to be considered when planning for a premiere. IT’S HUGE!
