Twilight/New Moon News

MTV has an article stating that Catherine Hardwicke won’t be returning to ‘Twilight’ franchise.
“I think it’s healthier to have a new person do [each one],” explained Hardwicke, who was recently replaced for the sequel “New Moon” but had some fans holding out hope she might return for the upcoming “Eclipse” or “Breaking Dawn” films. “I’ve loved all the different directors that did the ‘Harry Potter’ [films], because each one had their own cool style and energy, so I think that’s good. And I’m moving on to other projects.”
Yoy0-j shared 2 scans of Robert’s picture from a Japanese Magazine (“Kono Eiga ga Sugoi”) over at rpatzzdaily.

Celebuzz has an article about Bobby Long recalling the times with Robert before Twilight.

In this entry, it was reported that Kristen and Taylor was at Tofino. Now, Westcoaster.ca has an interesting article.
“The weather is perfect for us: rainy, dismal, in the sense of the visuals, the mist on the ocean, the cloudiness, the erratic wind activity,” said Bill Bannerman, New Moon’s co-producer. “Everything is exactly what it should be.”
Cast members Kristin Stewart, who plays Isabella Swan, and Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob Black, arrived in Tofino by bus Thursday.
Poor weather prevented them from flying directly to Tofino from Vancouver. So they flew to Nanaimo and drove west across Vancouver Island.
Under rainy, gray skies, filming kicked off Thursday afternoon at the rugged and rocky South Beach, located near Wickaninnish Beach inside Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
Cast and crew returned to South Beach Friday morning, before moving to Incinerator Rock at Long Beach, where Parks Canada closed down a parking lot popular with surfers for movie crews.
Bannerman said the crew needed to shoot a couple of scenes that would bridge the story’s second act and show the characters evolving personalities and relationships.
In conclusion, it was mentioned that filming will wrap up only at the end of May and the movie, as we all know, will hit theaters in November 20th in the US. If you missed out on our entry regarding New Moon’s release date in Singapore, check it out here!

New Moon News

According to Lainey Gossip, the cliff diving scenes are being shot!

Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart were in Tofino, British Columbia yesterday – where Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds were married but not at that resort – shooting around South Beach and the Wickaninnish Inn. More of that is happening today. Rachelle Lefevre is said to be around too.
And Borders has a new video. It’s pretty cool because you get to see the cast in costume

You can check it out at their Twilight Borders Media website.

Louisa Thomas from Newsweek has a review in which she thinks that the TWILIGHT movie is better than the book. Read it here.
Chuck The Movie Guy has a review of the Twilight DVD (Blu-Ray):
EOnline has an article – Kellan Lutz: How Robert Pattinson Gets The Girls. Kellan Lutz called into Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to promote the Twilight DVD.
“Rob is the lead, but you’re the better-looking Cullen,” Ryan bravely admitted to Kellan, at the risk of infuriating millions of Robert Pattinson loyalists.
“Ooh, I need to hang out with people like you more often!” exclaimed Kellan, who then (wisely!) proceeded to share some kind words about his celluloid sibling…
The Vancouver Sun has an article about Rachelle on playing Victoria for Twilight and New Moon, again.
I wanted Victoria to be playful and powerful, but not a sociopath. There’s no pathology to her evil. I think she’s just an example of what happens when you have absolute power: It corrupts absolutely,” she says.
Victoria’s role gets a little heftier in New Moon as she seeks to avenge Bella Swan for the death of her lover, James, but Lefevre says it’s not about the cumulative screen time. She just feels lucky to be a part of such a great project.
Edi Gathegi is in New York, promoting the Twilight DVD. Watch the video of Edi on Good Day New York here.
According to Variety, Catherine Hardwicke will be directing ‘Stay’. More details here.

Catherine tells EOnline about her decision to not direct New Moon.
Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke remembers the exact moment she decided to say no to New Moon.
“I was in Paris with Rob [Pattinson] and Kristen [Stewart] at dinner and talking to them and it was like, ‘Is this really the schedule? Would we really be starting 10 and a half weeks from now?’ ” Hardwicke told me yesterday in Santa Monica at the launch event for her new book, Twilight: Director’s Notebook. “Yes, we would, for various reasons which I respect, but I really thought it would be better for somebody else, who hadn’t just been working every day for two years without a day off.”
Reelz Channel has a video on Catherine about New Moon. Check it out here.
MTV has an article about the Twilight cast surprising the fans at the upcoming DVD release parties.
Likely included in these drop-ins are director Catherine Hardwicke and the vampire Laurent himself, Gathegi. “I’m going to sneak into one,” he grinned when we asked him about his plans recently. “I don’t know which one I’m going to yet, but I just got off the phone with Catherine, like, a few hours ago, and she might be going to one.”
Rotten Tomatoes came out with their very own guide to the Twilight DVD.

Lastly, to find out if Kristen & Rob are compatible for each other in the Twilight movie, Catherine made them kiss in her bedroom during the audition.
Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke had a unique method to determine Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart‘s compatibility before casting them in the vampire epic: She had them kiss for their audition.

Twilight News/New Moon News

Yesterday we had news from LA Times Blog about the Korean Version of Twilight and now our friend Katie Dirga, who has graciously shared with us the Japanese version of the Twilight Saga series which she found in a bookstore in Roppongi. Instead of 4 thick books, the Japanese version had them split into a total of 11 books (shown in Katie’s blog with English translations) with some Manga illustrations in them. Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse has each been split into 3 while Breaking Dawn into 4 books. We saw the advert for these books in the subway when we were there.
Check out the complete set of the Japanese Version of The Twilight Saga and some sneak peeks inside

Here they are :
Taylor Lautner: Jacob Black
Chaske Spencer: Sam Uley
Tyson Houseman: Quil Ateara

We have yet to confirm this but by looking the picture above taken from ‘the Wolfpack lunch’ we can identify 2 of them as Alex Meraz (the one in the beanie; who’s supposedly will be playing Paul) and Tyson Houseman (the one with the specs; who’s supposedly will be playing Quil)

Instyle tells us more about the Hair Secrets from the Set.

The first step in getting Pattinson and Stewart to resemble their characters Edward and Bella was a hair transformation. “Both of their hair colors were from a previous film and needed to be corrected for their Twilight roles,” says Mary Ann Valdes, the movie’s department head hairstylist. To get the right shade, she had the actors try on wigs and when the color was decided on, she sent them to Beverly Hills salon owner Stuart Gavert (with the help of co-colorist Jonathan Castellanos) take care of the coloring.
And Instyle wants to know which style would you prefer for Rob – Casual or Dressy? Take part in the style poll here.

Catherine Hardwicke Makes Anime Hints by Digital Spy.
During the climax of the movie, Pattinson said: “I look Asian in this scene. I do, I look like an anime character.”

Examiner.com has an article – Twilight And New Moon Fans be sure to wear red on Thursday for Rob Pattinson and Edward Cullen.
…to show your support for a faithful book-to-film translation of New Moon by Chris Weitz (one which would have Robert Pattinson amidst a sea of garnet and red celebrants of St. Marcus Day, with Kristen Stewart and Ashley Greene, as Bella Swan and Alice Cullen, fighting against this sea of red to make it to Edward before the clock strikes twelve) wear something red this Thursday, March 19th.
YAY! More of Rob’s pictures he did for a press can be found here via Lion_Lamb and here.

Rob & Cam is in Vanity Fair’s West Side Story Revisited:

TURF BATTLE
The Sharks and the Jets mark out a piece of urban turf while simultaneously expressing the joy of being young, vigorous, and able to kick ass. As Bernardo, in red, Rodrigo Santoro (Behind the Sun) leads fellow Sharks played by Brandon T. Jackson (Tropic Thunder) and Jay Hernandez (Grindhouse, Hostel, Ladder 49). The Jets’ leader, Riff, in yellow, is played by Chris Evans, equally hot-headed in the role of the Torch in the Fantastic Four movies. Rounding out his crew are Cam Gigandet (The O.C., Twilight), Drake Bell (yes, the Drake, of Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh), and Robert Pattinson (Edward in Twilight, Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). They are not fully visible but they don’t mind, because they know the maxim, “There are no small parts, only small actors.”
THE DANCE
Between Maria (Camilla Belle, far left) and Tony (Ben Barnes, far right, also known as Prince Caspian), it is dancing, dancing, dancing. Latin steps predominate on the left, as the Sharks and their ladies give America a taste of the culture to come. On the right, we have a series of funky Anglo moves, as the Jets and their gals go rhythmically at it. On either side, our two tragic protagonists have eyes only for each other. The lead Sharks dancers are Anita (J.Lo, in an incredible pose) and Bernardo (Rodrigo Santoro). The Jet girl dancing with Riff (Chris Evans) is played by Ashley Tisdale (of High School Musical fame). Rounding out the Sharks, left to right: Minka Kelly (she’s Lyla on Friday Night Lights), Jay Hernandez, Natalie Martinez (Death Race), Brandon T. Jackson, Melonie Diaz (A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints). On the Jets’ side: Sean Faris (Never Back Down), Shane Lynch (she’s gonna be big), Robert Pattinson, Cam Gigandet, Trilby Glover (88 Minutes), Brittany Snow (Hairspray), Drake Bell.
Now we can all understand what was being asked in this video (translation provided):

Times Online has an article regarding Stephenie Meyer’s influence on teenage girls to read the classics.
“We are on course to sell several tens of thousands of copies this year, which is exceptional. The enthusiasm has prompted a lot of bookshops to put Brontë on display next to Stephenie Meyer, and that has obviously encouraged people to buy both of them.”
Stephenie Meyer herself drawn inspiration from classic novels for her Twilight saga series:
Twilight: Pride & Prejudice
New Moon: Romeo & Juliet
Eclipse: Wuthering Heights
Breaking Dawn: The Merchant of Venice and A Midsummers Night Dream

Extra has a brief video interview with Kristen explaining to the viewers that people can think of anything they want about her and that she doesn’t care about it.
[UPDATE] Kristen shares her thoughts on the ‘Eclipse’ director rumour.
Sharing her opinion with Sci Fi Wire, she stated that she believes either Bayona or Barrymore will be a good choice.
“I don’t know. I mean, as long as they get someone who’s invested, as long as they get someone who cares,” the 18-year-old starlet explained. “It’s so above me, but I think that both of them are [good choices] in their own way. I’m sure that they’d be great. Drew’s been doing this her whole life, and she’s pretty cool.”
She further noted that it’s too early to say anything since neither has been signed for the project so far. “I could probably get behind both of those choices for various reasons, but neither’s [a lock]. Nobody’s been hired, so I don’t know yet,” so she claimed.
Speaking of which, I was listening to the radio yesterday when Jean Danker mentioned that Juan Antonio Bayona will be directing Eclipse during her ‘Movie Minutes’ segment on Class 95FM. She also mentioned that Drew Barrymore has just lost her chance to direct ‘Eclipse’. Uh-oh!!!

He’s Hot. He’s Sexy. He’s Undead.
Two years ago, Robert Pattinson was a forgotten extra in a ‘Harry Potter’ movie. Then he got cast as a blue-balled vampire in ‘Twilight,’ the year’s kazillion-dollar movie franchise, and every woman in America over 14 wants him. Too bad he’s not sure he wants them.

Entertainment Weekly has an article – Why The Third ‘Twilight’ Movie Might Not Suck.
Because it now looks likely that the third movie, Eclipse, will be directed by Spanish film-maker Juan Antonio Bayona. “Who?” you may ask. And that’s a fair question. Bayona is hardly a household name—yet! But his debut movie, The Orphanage, was one of the great creepfests of the past few years—a gorgeous-to-look-at horror film about a missing child and the ghosts who may, or may not, have taken him. The result was entrancing, unsettling and, at times, utterly terrifying. Everything, in fact, that Twilight is not.
The Orphanage trailer:
However, please bear in mind that Summit has not officially confirmed anything yet regarding the director for ‘Eclipse’. LATimes Blog has the full story – Summit hires new ‘Twilight’ director, right? Wrong!
By sheer coincidence, I had lunch today with Erik Feig, who’s president of production at Summit and the man most involved with managing the hit series of films. (“New Moon,” the second film in the series, begins production later this month with Chris Weitz at the helm.)
Feig was shocked to see the media reports saying Summit had hired Bayona, since — ahem — they’re not true. “The ‘Eclipse’ directing job hasn’t been offered to Juan Antonio or anyone else,” he told me. “We’ve met with three or four talented filmmakers and we’ll be meeting with three or four more other candidates before we make any decision. No one has been offered the job.”

The Volterra Committee and TwilightItalia are asking for support in their initiative of having Summit film New Moon at the true Volterra.
Here’s what they have to say:
“We’d like to humbly ask for your support for an important initiative to Help the City of Volterra host the filming of New Moon and to show you some great material we created. Summit Entertainment confirmed that part of the movie filming will be done in Italy. However, the town of Volterra is seriously risking of not being considered as the location for the filming. This is why we wanted to show you the real Volterra. We went there. We tracked the “real” steps of Alice, Bella and Edward in Volterra with beautiful photos and videos. “

“I love outtakes,” Stewart said. “I love when the fantasy is broken down and revealed to everyone. I think it’s funny. Literally, there wasn’t a day that went by that we didn’t have camera crews on set so I’m sure that they have hours of footage to cut together for the eager audience.”
The sequel, New Moon begins shooting later this month, with Chris Weitz taking over directing. “Chris is like the most genuinely vested. He didn’t just like jump on the bandwagon like, ‘Ooh, let’s get the next big successful movie. I want to do Twilight too.’ He really likes it and is entirely involved. He’s a really sweet guy and we’re all really excited to work with him. I really like his work as well so it all just works out.”

Nikki Reed explains that she won’t be dying her hair for New Moon. Full story here.

But what will this mean for the fans? Reed said the die-hards might notice some of the changes — like her plan to wear a wig this time rather than dye her hair again. “My hair fell out,” she winced. “It took 36 hours initially to make me blond, and every other day, I was bleaching my head and my skin. This time around, we are testing out different wigs and stuff.”
