Twilight Coverage in Tokyo: Day 5 – Fan Meeting
The final event of the day – Fan Meeting! We rushed back into Garden Hall from the wet Chateau Plaza. It was soo ‘un-glam’ (unglamourous) carrying our 3 shopping bags and tripod in and out of the rain! We couldn’t leave them anywhere. Haha! One contained gifts for the cast, one with books and stuff we wanted the cast to autograph for TS and one, our banner – the red of the frame just bled cos of the rain.. Btw, Aishah and I wore dresses to suit the occasion with boots and heels. Its was a Twilight Event after all!
So.. we had to do our set up again. Aishah on video at the right side of the stage (2nd position) and moi doing the still photos on the left side of the stage, way at the back (11th position). So we had about 15-20 mins to adjust our cameras again. Everyone had a different POV this time and all of us (press) had to stand against the wall. The seats this time were reserved for the fans and they were numbered. I guess the fans would have a ticket of some sort that designated their seats.
After all the press people finally came back, the organizers brought in about 200 lucky fans who were chosen out of 2000 from all over Asia and the rest of the world. I think most of them wrote in when the invitation was posted on http://www.twilighter.jp a few weeks ago. The fans were all screaming with excitement and were in awe of the whole set up of the hall. They looked like us too….drenched and cold but relieved to be in the warm hall. Though the fans did stayed outside much, much longer. The first in the fan queue was there since the night before at 10pm!
While I was lining up for the press pass, I asked Aishah to get some footage outside at the plaza and of the fans in the line. They were cold and were having their meals in the line like us too… She interviewed a few of them and she saw some of the friends we met at the airport as well! Namely, Mayuka, Aki, Molly, Anna and Patricia!
Here’s the Japanese poster for Twilight!
The press with video cameras on the other side of the hall. And here are the seats that were numbered accordingly.
The AWESOME FANS started to file into the hall…
The fans were all EXCITED! Soo many “OMGs! OMGs!” heard from every corner of the hall. I think the ones in other languages were “OMGs” as well.. YAY for the fans!
When they were all finally seated, the announcer came on stage again to congratulate the lucky fans and to introduce the cast.
Taylor, Kristen and Robert’s names were announced to the booming sound of ‘Decode’ by Paramore. All of us fans know the song soo well and when it came on…..well…. THE SCREAMING STAAARRRTED!!!!! I also screamed..can’t help it lah! Decode made me do it!
Haha! Aishah could see the side of the stage from her vantage point and said that Taylor was hesistating on when to jump in…
He finally came out followed by Kristen ….
and Robert…. to the LOUD SCREAMS of the fans!
The cast’s entourage, ie, friends, families, agents and managers looking on. Wonder how come all of them have their arms folded…
Here the cast greets the fans again!
Kristen practices her Japanese greeting to the fans.
Taylor goes first again!
Ummmm…that smile again..I dunno what to say!
Aishah kept on saying that Kristen’s stance was like a rock star here.. Joan Jett …The Runaways!!
Kristen is greeting the fans in Japanese! Her pronounciation was apparently quite good! Check out how proud the translator was! Well done Kristen! Impressive!
Robert is chuffed about something…. I wonder what?!
Oh my! There’s that look again…whoever the person that’s on the receiving end of that..Haha Good Luck!
The Q & A with fans starts!
First up – Taylor!
Going by the accent, I think the fan was from Taiwan, who asked Taylor, “What was the craziest fan experience so far? Other than the panty incident.”
Apparently, the panty incident was the craziest for Taylor. So he recounted the story for those who haven’t heard it yet.
Hehehe… Kristen and Robert look pretty embarrassed here. Well, you guys can imagine what the question was…..check out how everyone is smiling. a nervous Japanese fan asked (you can hear her sigh in the video) Kristen how it felt like kissing Robert. And Kristen asked back, ‘How did you think it felt?’ The fan replied something which I couldn’t hear. Then Kristen said,” SOO much better!!”. WOOOOoooOOOO!! The whole hall crowed and laughed! And Robert’s facial reaction was like, “Oh?” Haha! You guys HAVE TO WATCH the video because I cannot described it! Awesome answer Kristen!!
This fan asked Robert,”We were wondering about your future music plans. And if they have any of the blues sound to it?”
Robert answers,” Umm I dunno yet. I was writing some stuff over Christmas. I’m trying to write things that can work with a band. A little bit more rhythmic. Umm.. I don’t really know yet – I haven’t been doing too music to be honest. I’m so sorry its such a boring answer.”
And now the lucky draw begins… Robert, Kristen and Taylor will pull out 20 numbers from a box. These numbers are actually the seat numbers of the fans. So the 20 fans will have to come out to the front and play another lucky draw. After which, finally there will be 6 lucky fans who get to spend dinner with our 3 stars! COOLNESS!!
Okay here’s how the lucky draw works. There is a black box with red ropes hanging out of it. Each of the 20 fans holds on to one end of the red rope. While Robert, Kristin and Taylor holds on to 2 red ropes each. So the cast and the 20 fans will pull the red ropes as hard as the can till they find out who’s holding on to the other end of their rope. The pictures below has the cast waiting and watching the fans. Hmm.. but wait! Rob is winking at someone?! Who dat?! Who dat? Haha!
The 20 fans can be seen slowly lining up infront of the stage.
Let the game begin!!
Everyone including the cast starts pulling!!
Check out Kristen’s cheeky face when she sees which fan is holding on to her end of the rope! She’s looks cute here! Haha!
We’ve got our 6 lucky winners!! They are asked to get their bags and head on to the back of the stage where they will be led to a special dinner with our 3 stars!
The cast say their thanks and bids farewell to the fans.
And that was the last event of our Twilight Coverage in Tokyo. But no worries, there are videos too taken during the fan meeting!
We’re still busy editing the video done by the awesome Izzatee and she’ll post it as soon as she’s done.
For the whole trip, me and Aishah were both satisfied with the coverage we had done. It was even better when we had a surprise appearance of Martin Scorsese, Hugh Jackman and even bumping into Taylor TWICE before the premiere! We were just as surprised as you guys were!
We hope that the coverage that we have done has satisfied your Twilight experience in Tokyo. Keep on checking our site coz we might post a few outtakes. And thank you so much for visiting our website.
AISHAH & MARIA.
