Twilight Book Discussion: Theory
Apologies for the delay. Bessy is quite busy with school with her upcoming tests so I’ll be helping her with the book discussion. This time we thought of making the book discussion more interactive. So instead of us spilling all the questions to you, we will be posting 2 – 3 questions for each chapter and we would like you to contribute your own questions for that particular chapter. You can ask questions that is related to the chapter itself or questions that are linked between the current chapter discussed and the previous one. We hope this will make the book discussion more interactive. So without further ado, here’s Chapter 9: Theory.
“I bit my lip. He looked down at me, his honey eyes unexpectedly gentle.
“I won’t laugh,” he promised.
“I’m more afraid that you’ll be angry with me.”
“Is it that bad?”
“Pretty much, yeah.”
He waited. I was looking down at my hands, so I couldn’t see his expression.
“Go ahead.” His voice was calm.
“I don’t know how to start,” I admitted.
“Why don’t you start a the beginning… you said you didn’t come up with this on your own.”
“No.”
“What got you started – a book? A movie?” he probed.
“No – it was Saturday, at the beach.” I risked a glance up at his face. He look puzzled.
“I ran into an old family friend – Jacob Black,” I continued. “His dad and Charlie have been friends since I was a baby.”
He still look confused.
“His dad is one of the Quileute elders.” I watched him carefully. His confused expression froze in place. “We went for a walk – ” I edited all my scheming out of the story. ” – and he was telling me some old legends – trying to scare me, I think. He told me one…” I hesitated.
“Go on,” he said.
“About vampires.” I realized I was whispering. I couldn’t look at his face now. But I saw his knuckles tighten convulsively on the wheel.”
1. What do you think was going through Edward’s mind when Bella revealed about his secret which she got it from with the help of Jacob Black?
2. Why do you think Edward asked Bella not to go into the woods alone?

1. What do you think was going through Edward’s mind when Bella revealed about his secret which she got it from with the help of Jacob Black?
“Don’t the girl know that I’m dangerous? Why isn’t she afraid of me?” I think partially he didn’t want her to find out through a Black or any Quileutes. I bet that he’s still hesitating whether or not to tell Bella the truth during that period of time before this. He probably didn’t expect her to get it right.
2. Why do you think Edward asked Bella not to go into the woods alone?
Vampires? At least, because of the bad vampires. I doubt that it’s werewolves, because Edward thought that the werewolf gene thing ended with Jacob’s great grandfather or something.

“Stupid boy… lucky he doesn’t believe it… I forgot about the indian guy… hm well better she knows it”
2. Why do you think Edward asked Bella not to go into the woods alone?
Because of Peter and Charlotte. They were visiting Jasper and Alice and Edward was sick because of them and his fear for Bella…

question 1:
I think Edward was really surprised and anxious at the same time. Maybe he didn’t expect it to be that much sooner or bolder? hehehe.Bella was shooting right to the bullseye and this somewhat making it harder for Edward to keep being with her under that facade which was peeling layer by layer on seconds it seemed.This is my interpretation of Edward’s thinking…i don’t know i could be wrong..so
question 2:
Well, there are vampires out there roaming around ‘who are not like us’….hehehhe….
And Edward caught Bella’s smell near the woods around her house and he’s thinking Bella is capable of yes,..roaming around and he just does not want her to be alone in such place in such time.
okay..my question is,
***On the day Edward watches Bella chillin(hehhe) in her backyard, why do you think its best for Edward to come forward and check what books Bella read that made her switch moods so suddenly?Besides the obvious point of him wanting to know whats going on with this beautiful girl of his?
***Why do you think Edward feels its best for Bella to come up with the answer rather than him telling her the truth? (this question is like de ja vu…hmm…)
***When Bella told Edward that he might get mad / laugh of her theory, do you think she is being honest or she was really daring him to be in any of the situation? Why?

AAAWWWww, everyone read midnight sun already???
I think its best if we do the discussion based on our own interpretation of Twilight(the first book) rather than depending on that valuable back-up that is Midnight Sun.
Seriously guys, i myself refer to Midnight sun a lot but I think its more interesting to have our own opinion on the matter than perceiving what the fact really was.It gives the book more in depth view from hard-core fans besides keeping the truth straight. It would be a waste of space if no creative thought involved in this discussion.So please,,, its okay if it digresses out of point as long as you keep it genuinely real…the time we spent here will be more meaningful…

ahahhaha..lol not necessarily.. Okay let me say it this way, why would anyone would want to put a question, if they already knew the answer? Wouldn’t that just waste anyones time regardless you love the book or not? Or its not a problem for you to explain it all over? And its supposed to be a discussion …
I noticed that everyone kept referring to it which is a bore.I refer to it all the time too but Id love to exchange thoughts and ideas with all you lovely fans…

I think what was going throught edward mind is why is she not scared, not running away but im a monster how could she not be petrafied
2.it hink he did not want belle to go in the woods to attached by james abd the nomads and stuff like that.
