Twilight Online Book Discussion: Open Book

I know I am so late, was studying for a test (and secretly reading New Moon at the same time)! You can pelt me with eggs and throw spears at me now. *ducks* Anyway, welcome to Chapter 2: Open Book!
I was showing off, just a little. I’d already done this lab, and I knew what I was looking for. It should be easy. I snapped the first slide into place under the microscope and adjusted it quickly to the 40X objective. I studied the slide briefly.
My assessment was confident. “Prophase.”
“Do you mind if I look?” he asked as I began to remove the slide. His hand caught mine, to stop me, as he asked. His fingers were ice-cold, like he’d been holding them in a snowdrift before class. But that wasn’t why I jerked my hand away so quickly. When he touched me, it stung my hand as if an electric current had passed through us.
“I’m sorry,” he muttered, pulling his hand back immediately. However, he continued to reach for the microscope. I watched him, still staggered, as he examined the slide for an even shorter time than I had.
“Prophase,” he agreed, writing it neatly in the first space on our worksheet. He swiftly switched out the first slide for the second, and then glanced at it cursorily.
“Anaphase,” he murmured, writing it down as he spoke.
I kept my voice indifferent. “May I?”
Q1: Why do you think Bella wanted to show off?
Q2: What possible reasons led to Charlie becoming defensive and so uptight when Bella noted to him that “They… the kids… are a little different. They don’t seem to fit in very well at school.”?
Q3: When Edward questioned Bella about her move to Forks, why do you think he made assumptions and statements (“And you don’t like him [Phil]“, “And your mother sent you here so that she could travel with him) instead of asking questions?
Q4: After school, Edward was “staring intently” in Bella’s direction from his Volvo. Using your imagination, what do you think he was pondering over as he looked towards Bella?
Once again, I apologize for the Mega Late post! Now let your words run!

Well,well,well..here we go again…
NIce questions..but im gonna sleep on it.Gnite!

Hi! This sounds like fun! (I am alos studying for exam… so anything outta textbooks are fun, LOL)
Q1: Why do you think Bella wanted to show off?
Well, isn’t it normal to show-off especially since you know your answer will be right? She just wanted to fit in, and also, Edward was just intimidating.
Q2: What possible reasons led to Charlie becoming defensive and so uptight when Bella noted to him that “They… the kids… are a little different. They don’t seem to fit in very well at school.”?
Hmm… I think Charlie doesn’t like the idea of people talking behind the Cullens, which I think alot of people have been doing that. He admires Carlise, so naturally, he jumps to their defense whenever people start to shoot their mouths, in a way, he thought Bella was just the same as those folks in Forks.
Q3: When Edward questioned Bella about her move to Forks, why do you think he made assumptions and statements (”And you don’t like him [Phil]“, “And your mother sent you here so that she could travel with him) instead of asking questions?
A normal kid will be: I don’t like Phil so I came to Forks; or any normal divorced mother would have sent her kid to the other parent for convenient’s sake. Edward was just thinking of Bella in the most normal reaction he had expected her to be.
Q4: After school, Edward was “staring intently” in Bella’s direction from his Volvo. Using your imagination, what do you think he was pondering over as he looked towards Bella?
Erm… wasn’t this in Midnight Sun? Haha, okok, my imagination. Looking at her ‘old-school’ vehicle. How she is so different from other kids. I think probably he is wondering himself why is he studying her. And also that he still cannot read her mind, so he was hoping to get some signs by reading her face? How he can get her alone and ‘eat’ her? Haha.
Ok, I’m out.
January 5, 2009 at 11:13 am
Q1: Why do you think Bella wanted to show off?
Well I think she’s just being her normal self in just wanting to share around her answer which she already knew, and also since she’s taken advanced science or something like that according to Midnight Sun.
Q2: What possible reasons led to Charlie becoming defensive and so uptight when Bella noted to him that “They… the kids… are a little different. They don’t seem to fit in very well at school.”?
He’s just being more realistic and reasonable, thinking doesn’t mean they’re different means they’re bad kids or something’s wrong with them, which is what is thought by others. Anyway, I think he likes Dr. Cullen and his family, so it’s logical if he defended them.
Q3: When Edward questioned Bella about her move to Forks, why do you think he made assumptions and statements (”And you don’t like him [Phil]“, “And your mother sent you here so that she could travel with him) instead of asking questions?
Well he’s just assuming what is always said by other people, since he did mentioned that humans are predictable, so he’s just thinking it’s logical that she moved to Forks because of the step-dad.
Q4: After school, Edward was “staring intently” in Bella’s direction from his Volvo. Using your imagination, what do you think he was pondering over as he looked towards Bella?
Maybe he’s just trying to figure out what Bella is thinking, so indirectly he is staring at her. He’s trying to figure out why Bella is so unpredictable, being such a mystery to him, and why she has that powerful blood scent of hers.
January 5, 2009 at 12:15 pm
HAHAH I love doing this, so exciting!
January 5, 2009 at 12:17 pm
Q1: Why do you think Bella wanted to show off?
Up until then, Edward was like the image of perfection in everyone’s eye. Maybe she wanted to show off her skills to try to test Edward, like, “Maybe he’s not so perfect.” Does this make any sense?
I kind of think that it showed how comfortable she was with him. I mean, if you had just moved into Forks and you were paired with this handsome yet intimidating stranger that everyone finds weird, you’d hardly be trying first off to show off, would you? I mean, Bella strikes me as the sort who would slowly get to know people before doing such a thing, even if she had been in an advanced placement class back in Phoenix. By attempting to show off her skills in ID-ing the stages of mitosis, she showed how Edward was just like another student to her, albeit an intimidating one. But then again, that’s just me
Q2: What possible reasons led to Charlie becoming defensive and so uptight when Bella noted to him that “They… the kids… are a little different. They don’t seem to fit in very well at school.”?
Well, Charlie was said to have no problems with the Cullens. He said that Carlisle was an asset to Forks and that the Cullen kids were no trouble at all. He likes them, so yeah, it’d make sense for him to act so defensively. He probably wanted Bella to have a different opinion of the Cullens, other than those whispers in school.
Other than that, I think that Charlie is just like that. He stands up for the underdog. He has his principles that he stands by and he’s very vocal on that – he doesn’t talk to Bella much about personal issues, but he speaks out for the Cullens.
Q3: When Edward questioned Bella about her move to Forks, why do you think he made assumptions and statements (”And you don’t like him [Phil]“, “And your mother sent you here so that she could travel with him) instead of asking questions?
He was trying to figure her out without being too obvious? He can’t read her mind, so he has to try to guess what her thoughts would be, because, like what nekoi said earlier, it would have been the natural progression of her thoughts. And he was probably trying to see if he was right, testing himself.
Also, I think that he didn’t want to ask questions because he didn’t know her and she him, and he probably didn’t want to sound like an interrogator. He wanted to know more about her without being too forward; he’s not as comfortable with her like he was later on
Q4: After school, Edward was “staring intently” in Bella’s direction from his Volvo. Using your imagination, what do you think he was pondering over as he looked towards Bella?
My imagination isn’t that great, haha. Okay… Maybe he was wondering what made her different from all the other people, analysing her every move, trying to figure her out. I mean, to him, she’s a new student and shouldn’t be anything different from Jessica or Angela, unless she happened to be an alien. He was also probably trying to read her mind again, and failing, thus the intent stare. I told you I wasn’t that imaginative.
This was amazingly fun!
January 5, 2009 at 3:01 pm
…I am feeling so embarrassed now. Everyone thinks the book discussion is fun.
*throws confetti*
I feel guilty at the same time too! Okay, give me a moment, I still need to finish up on my Chem homework, then I’ll come back and join you guys okay!
January 5, 2009 at 4:54 pm
Question 1:
Well I think when you already know the answer and being in a new school and this person sitting beside you is sort of annoying and looks at you unashamed, and wasn’t pretending And not making any effort to be nice at all the first time you met, all sorts of thoughts enter your head.Like what Bella think of herself as the “suffer in silence” type, she’d want to get back at this person in a classy way like being smart!hahaha…And she was smart alright!
Question 2:
Charlie is just outgoing,I guess. He’s not the kind of person to pry around. He’s friends with everyone. And loyal. He’s just a cool guy.And there was definitely nothing bad about the Cullens and they for sure confirmed that.I guess before Bella came, for a small town like that, people ‘talk’.It went for a long time I guess and I think it hasn’t die-down and he is just sick of it.He does not want anyone to talk about it let alone in his house.Eventhough Bella’s question meant otherwise.
Question 3:
Edward can’t read Bella like he can with everyone else. He’s intrigued by it.He wants to know everything even when thats really not he’s looking for in the first place. This mute silence kills him.By making questions, it enables someone to answer it.truth or lies.Edward does’t want wrong answers(lied answers as I should say) and he’s deadly curious. So with these assumptions,it kind of narrows down to what Bella actually can tell him.Like closing loopholes as much as you can, you know?
Question 4:
I think he luuuuuuuuuurvves her!!!!hahahaha:)
kidding again!
*
okay,okay,.. aside from that, I think he wants to know more.Perhaps that short conversation was quite interesting and it triggers all of his attention to this specific girl in town. And you knoe,I think Maybe if they stare long enough,he would wink! No,im kidding! ermm..beckon Bella over to ask her if she wants to get a coffee or something.HAhahaaha…But i know fully well he won’t! Thats cause he is shy!hahaha.Or just unapproachable! He luuuurrrvess her! hahaha..
And Bella might not think like this, but if I were there and Im one of the classmates and saw what happen,I would think, whether Edward likes it or not, somehow if this girl would forget about him, it will bother him much! Then he would start a fight with Mike cause he can’t be friends with Bella like Mike can and he’s jealous! HAhahaha,NO! and yes, kidding again! kidding!
*I watch people in my school sometimes when Im bored, and almost every assumptions I made about them was true.ha!How do I know? Well I have my resources
January 5, 2009 at 11:10 pm
Waa..everyone here has a very interesting take on the questions.Nice
Aiyo..Bessy I feel soo bad that you’re soo busy with school and this.It reminds me more of mine thats gonna come later on.
CRAP!!!!
January 5, 2009 at 11:18 pm
woohoo book discussions!
thanks to bessy for doing this even though school’s already begun
Q1:
Well i kinda think that because she saw edward sitting there all “perfect” with his beauty and musical voice and what not (haha) she was hoping maybe that he wouldn’t be “smart” as well, so she had that one thing that was ‘over’ him. Or else he would just be absolutely “perfect”, which is highly unfair (lol).
Q2:
Charlie is probably very grateful that the Cullens do not misbehave or cause any ruckus in town like some of the other kids in town, and also very grateful towards Carlisle, because he is such a good doctor, and just happened to decide to move to Forks when he could probably get much better pay at a bigger hospital. And it’s probably in his nature to get defensive when people ask questions about the people he “likes” or “appreciates”.
Q3:
Maybe he was trying to guess her thoughts.. in the hopes that she was just another predictable human. like just putting out what the answer would have been if it were any other person he was asking.
Q4:
I think he may have been trying to figure out why he was unable to read her thoughts, and how she was so unlike all the other predictable humans around him?
hahaha sorry if i don’t make sense.. it’s quite late. and i know i didn’t dig extremely deep :p but i figured i’d put my two cents worth in
January 6, 2009 at 1:50 am
Ugh, O level’s this year. Didn’t even realise that there’s another open book discussion!
Q1: Why do you think Bella wanted to show off?
Honestly, no idea. I’m guessing that no matter how much someone wants to blend in and try to fit into the crowd, they secretly still want to show off and be better at something than others.
Q2: What possible reasons led to Charlie becoming defensive and so uptight when Bella noted to him that “They… the kids… are a little different. They don’t seem to fit in very well at school.”?
Charlie’s divorce with Renee? It’s probably because he thought that Bella heard rumours about the Cullens and because of his divorce with Bella’s mom, he want to defend/protect the Cullen kids as they are most likely going through the ‘same things’ as him, last time and now.
Q3: When Edward questioned Bella about her move to Forks, why do you think he made assumptions and statements (”And you don’t like him [Phil]“, “And your mother sent you here so that she could travel with him) instead of asking questions?
He wants to have his assumptions right about Bella as she is the first person whose mind he can’t read and he is trying to figure her out. He is used to knowing people’s reasons, etc because of his special ability and despite Bella being different from the rest, he speaks as if he can read Bella’s mind too by saying the statements and his assumptions, except that he’s saying them out loud to confirm them. Crappy answer, next.
Q4: After school, Edward was “staring intently” in Bella’s direction from his Volvo. Using your imagination, what do you think he was pondering over as he looked towards Bella?
Thinking of his future with Bella (possibly), deciding whether or not to be with her and get close to her, reading Alice’s vision? Or maybe, “Bella I love you a million red M&M’S!”
January 6, 2009 at 9:14 pm
@ nekoi: Hi! This sounds like fun! (I am alos studying for exam… so anything outta textbooks are fun, LOL)
TOTALLY. My Chem test is finally over! But I have another one coming up on Friday. *squints*
True, true, just that I think maybe it’s not so much that he thought Bella was like everyone else, you know, speaking slightly ill of the Cullens, but maybe rather he didn’t want Bella to get the wrong impression since she was observant enough to notice? Yes?
Edward was just thinking of Bella in the most normal reaction he had expected her to be.
Oh yes, I forgot about that! I’ve forgotten how he’d assumed. But actually you know what, I actually thought he purposely made assumptions to annoy Bella and make her speak the truth willingly (in a way) instead of lying.
Erm… wasn’t this in Midnight Sun?
Oh shit. REALLY? Well I have yet to finish MS yet, so, yeah.
Looking at her ‘old-school’ vehicle. How she is so different from other kids. I think probably he is wondering himself why is he studying her. And also that he still cannot read her mind, so he was hoping to get some signs by reading her face? How he can get her alone and ‘eat’ her? Haha.
EH YOU’RE SO VERY LOGICAL.
@ roz: Well I think she’s just being her normal self
I actually think she was less of amicable and more of being minutely & childishly proud.
Well he’s just assuming what is always said by other people, since he did mentioned that humans are predictable, so he’s just thinking it’s logical that she moved to Forks because of the step-dad.
“humans are predictable” rofl. Edward’s 107 years of knowledge obviously isn’t enough to supplement him experience in handling a girl called Isabella Swan. Yes, I forgot he’d once made that statement!
@ darcy: MR DARCY. LOL. CAN A PERSON DIE LAUGHING?
No, obviously not, because I’m still alive. Okay, I’m very nonsensical.
Up until then, Edward was like the image of perfection in everyone’s eye. Maybe she wanted to show off her skills to try to test Edward, like, “Maybe he’s not so perfect.” Does this make any sense?
Do you mean like, Bella was trying to prove that he wasn’t so intelligent and she was directing that to herself? Like, the impression Edward gives is that he’s perfect so she wants to figure out whether he really is impossible or not, right? And she was using herself as a comparison, right right right?
Now I’m kind of like the one not making sense.
I mean, Bella strikes me as the sort who would slowly get to know people before doing such a thing
I think that’s so true. Her reactions are like the opposite of normal humans, or even me, at least. I talk more to normal people and definitely less to scary-looking humans (I’m assuming they are), but Bella goes the other way round.
By attempting to show off her skills in ID-ing the stages of mitosis, she showed how Edward was just like another student to her, albeit an intimidating one. But then again, that’s just me
Omg no way it’s not just you. I mean, I didn’t have that conclusion beforehand but now that you have mentioned it, I think that is perfectly logical.
You sound like you’re Charlie’s best friend, surpassing even Billy. Anyway, that’s pretty spot on. I think so, too, but I’d never figured out that he would actually stand up for the underdog. Does he really do that? I mean, I know he’s nice to the Newtons and Stanleys but he also tolerates a little.
So (okay I’m trying to unscramble the mess that is my brain), applying your theory, does that mean that because the Cullens are less accepted, you mean to say that Charlie therefore defends them more naturally?
@ GirlInTwiTrance: And not making any effort to be nice at all the first time you met, all sorts of thoughts enter your head.Like what Bella think of herself as the “suffer in silence” type, she’d want to get back at this person in a classy way like being smart!
Just so you know, it’s “sufferer in silence”. That’s what she said. But it’s fine, just wanted you to know so next time you can quote correctly! And, haha, reveeeeeeeeeeenge. *shakes fist*
It went for a long time I guess and I think it hasn’t die-down and he is just sick of it.He does not want anyone to talk about it let alone in his house.Eventhough Bella’s question meant otherwise.
Definitely not an option that should be ruled out! I think that’s a nice way of looking at it. Like, he’s exhausted from all those untrue things that people have been saying behind their backs, right? Even though technically, the Cullens probably know what Forks thinks of them and don’t even care the slightest bit. But, assuming they don’t, Charlie thinks they’re nice and doesn’t want them to be treated unfairly, which might have been happening for quite a while… Hmm.
Food for thought. We could spin a backstory together you know.
I get you! Yeah. Curiosity kills the questions. HEH. So, not only is he so intrigued and weirdly obsessed with Bella and what led up to her current predicament in becoming his lab partner, he also wants answers. I actually think his way of making assumptions was a very intelligent way of forcing out replies from Bella and to keep her talking.
Which is ironic, because to have that method work, firstly the person must have had a strong and stubborn personality. And Edward thinks Bella is so different, so unique, so it’s ironic that he managed to figure *that* out. But then again, it’s not tough to derive one’s character merely by his/her actions, so it’s not such a tough possibility.
…your answer to question 4 made me laugh so much. YOU AH. You have too much imagination for your own good.
Anyway, nah, I like doing this. It’s nothing. So far homework’s manageable. Even if I start suffering from pressure and depression and get admitted into a mental hospital like Alice, I still will continue my duties! I do this out of love. \m/
@ spangiepantz: Heehee, no problem. School is small fry compared to this. *hops around*
she was hoping maybe that he wouldn’t be “smart” as well, so she had that one thing that was ‘over’ him. Or else he would just be absolutely “perfect”, which is highly unfair (lol).
Heyyyyyyyyyyy that’s so true! Hoping he was less clever than he has a right to, yes? But in the end she was proved wrong.
Charlie is probably very grateful that the Cullens do not misbehave or cause any ruckus in town like some of the other kids in town, and also very grateful towards Carlisle
I am perturbed… Why did you actually use the word “grateful”?
Nah it’s all right, don’t need to go in-depth! And it does make sense, unfortunately. HAH. Right, kidding! *ducks*
@ Shi Ting: LOL, YOU’RE ALWAYS COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR O LEVELS! Anyway, sec 4, right? But next year you can follow up on Eclipse! Whereas I have to suffer through two years of secondary school and each one is worse. And I can abandon NM if I’m sec 4, I don’t mind, but to forget Eclipse..! Sigh.
ANYWAY!
they secretly still want to show off and be better at something than others.
Did you mean like, “others” as in other people, and is this a general statement, or were you using Bella’s situation as a base and hypothetical reaction?
Charlie’s divorce with Renee? It’s probably because he thought that Bella heard rumours about the Cullens and because of his divorce with Bella’s mom, he want to defend/protect the Cullen kids as they are most likely going through the ’same things’ as him, last time and now.
OH THAT’S SUCH AN IMAGINATIVE ANSWER! Cool. Meaning, last time because of his divorce from Renee, he had to suffer (no thanks to people like the Stanleys) and so now he knows what the Cullens are experiencing and he wants to “help” them, in a way, right?
He is used to knowing people’s reasons, etc because of his special ability and despite Bella being different from the rest, he speaks as if he can read Bella’s mind too by saying the statements and his assumptions, except that he’s saying them out loud to confirm them.
No, it’s not a crappy answer. That’s nice! He assumes he got things right and partially because of his dignity, he refused to phrase his assumptions like questions, but at the same time he doesn’t want to be wrong so he simply makes statements. That’s what you mean, right? Psh. Edward and his pride.
Thinking of his future with Bella (possibly)… reading Alice’s vision?
LOL. Edward the Planner. Edward who thinks he’s worthy of Bella. Edward who wants Bella. Edward who realizes he loves Bella more every second. Edward wants to be with her! BUT HE CAN’T RUIN HER LIFE. Ah, right, who cares? By the way, I wonder how often Alice’s visions come.
Or maybe, “Bella I love you a million red M&M’S!”
Maybe. If Alice says that’s what he really was thinking, I’m not betting against her.
SORRY FOR THE LONG-WINDED REPLY COMMENT, GUYS. My Chem test today was over! But I have another one coming up on Friday and I dislike the teacher so I’m trying to figure out a way to convince myself to study for it. >:( I should have taken Triple Science! Blah.
January 6, 2009 at 10:54 pm
@Bessy: hahaha OK sorry my vocabulary becomes very limited in the wee hours of the morning..
i don’t think he’s GRATEFUL per se.. but maybe appreciative of the fact that they don’t raise hell in the town.. and even though he’s the police chief i think he would much prefer it if there was no major drama happening in his town (he seems very much like the quiet , calm kind of man who would rather sit in front of the TV with a beer than go and handle all the drama caused by raging hormonal teens!!).. so he’s inwardly appreciative of the fact that this “household of teenagers” who just moved into town has not caused any trouble for him at all.. i think that was mentioned in Twilight somewhere.. something about him being worried for awhile that a family with so many teenage children would come and cause trouble. I mean the children, not the whole family!! but they didn’t and so he’s appreciative of this.. and he said they behave better than most of the kids whose families have lived in Forks for much longer.. or something along those lines! haha…
and for Carlisle.. i think he’s quite appreciative of Carlisle’s medical expertise, because it kinda seems almost impossible to Charlie that Forks has this amazing doctor who could be earning so much more (at some big city hospital) than the Forks hospital could afford for his services.. he could almost be seen as a Godsend to this small town.. and i’m pretty sure Charlie said something along those lines in twilight but i really can’t recall properly.. haha
HAHA anyway, i hope that made some kind of sense! i’m actually getting sorta bleary eyed… niiiiiiight
January 7, 2009 at 2:29 am
Hahaha, cuz O level’s suck! BOOOOOOO. I can’t reply to such a long erm, reply. Hahaha, I have to rush a chemistry project. BOOOOOOOO.
“next year you can follow up on Eclipse! Whereas I have to suffer through two years of secondary school and each one is worse. And I can abandon NM if I’m sec 4, I don’t mind, but to forget Eclipse..! Sigh.”
Follow up? As in the movie? I think that though I’m having my O’s this year, I’ll still watch New Moon. It’s just 2 hours or so, so it’ll be a reward for me. MUAHAHA. By the way, sec 4 year is hell so be prepared. D: It’s only the 4th day and I’m half dead due to my lack of sleep.
Oh, and I meant others as in humans.
Oh! and I suddenly feel that the movie should have followed the airport scene as in the book. No idea why. Also, it feels like the way Bella escaped from Alice and Jasper was weird, because I would expect Alice to realise her disappearance or something
I LOVE TAYLOR!
:D:D:D:D:D:D
OMG TAYLOR:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
January 7, 2009 at 9:00 pm
@ Shi Ting: Follow up as in, follow intensely on the news and the movie and stuff, from pre-production to release. Which was what I did last year with Twilight and my grades actually dropped. XD
HOLD ON, I’LL REPLY MORE TOMORROW. I’M FLOORED RIGHT NOW.
January 7, 2009 at 11:00 pm
Q1: Maybe Bella has a competitive spirit? Or maybe she wants to look smart in front of Edward. Haha I’d show off a little too if I were her.
Q2: Charlie seems like the type of man who is very law abiding and I guess he didn’t like it when people talked about the Cullens and gossip about them.
Q3: I think those answers were normally what people would say so Edward was guessing and seeing if he could figure her out and if he was right. And Bella surprises him by answering differently.
Q4: He is trying to see if he can read her mind but of course he can’t. He could also be thinking of what she said earlier in Bio. If you read Midnight Sun, during the
first lesson, Edward thought “why did she have to come here? Why did she have to exist? Why did she have to ruin the little peace I had in this non-life of mine?
Why had this aggravating human ever been born? She would ruin me. Why me, why now?”
Then when he came back, he learnt more about her and wanted to know more. He was probably thinking about her, wondering about her life. If you read MS, you’ll know what Edward was thinking. ;D
January 8, 2009 at 12:52 am
OMG TAYLOR LAUTNER!
January 8, 2009 at 8:26 pm
@Bessy
Just so you know, it’s “sufferer in silence”. That’s what she said. But it’s fine, just wanted you to know so next time you can quote correctly! And, haha, reveeeeeeeeeeenge. *shakes fist*
Okay,calm down.
she said that? it sounds the same to me:)
Yes,when theres questions,my answers tend to be flowery…heehee:)im ashamed
January 9, 2009 at 2:51 pm
@Shi Ting
YEs,i wondered about that too.Why wasn’t Alice realise anything when Bella decided to leave?
Correct me if im wrong, nut I thought when you already deciding something,Alice can see that future right?then why was she letting Bella slipping away in the movie? And in the book,it seems likely that she won’t.
hmm..even if their reason is to want the movie looked reasonable, still they should be careful when presenting it.Its from a book for Christ sake! Be creative!Even a 5 year old will notice that
January 9, 2009 at 2:59 pm
@ Shi Ting: Follow up? As in the movie?
Yes, follow up as in following the movie, trailing from pre-production to casting to filming to post-production!
it feels like the way Bella escaped from Alice and Jasper was weird, because I would expect Alice to realise her disappearance or something
I know, but I think, until now, I still cannot figure out how Alice’s vision truly works. Does she constantly keep seeing visions? Like how Edward keeps constantly hearing people’s thoughts? So I’m actually willing to let that pass.
And they didn’t mention Jasper’s ability at all in the movie, so I take that they either extracted it out on the sly, or a possible explanation would be that with so many people around, it would have been harder for him to detect a furtive emotion being emitted from Bella.
@ Mrs Edward Cullen: Meh. That’s the point. I didn’t have time to finish reading MS.
@ GirlInTwiTrance: Haha, no worries, I wasn’t about to murder my laptop or whatnot.
January 10, 2009 at 11:33 pm
Hahaha, yeahhhh. Sorry, I’m too high to reply much cuz Jam&Hop at TP was so AWESOME!

Well as far as the showing off…Someone said it earlier, very natural especially sitting beside such perfection…And as for charlie’s reaction, he has probably heard his fare share of critisms about the cullens from his best friend billy so is probably just sick of it all and also thinks highly of carlisle as it is mentioned in the book that he could have gone somewhere else and made a fortune as he is a brilliant doctor but chose to look after the people in the small community. Edward’s assumptiones, well at the start of that conversation bella states that its complicated so edward is just stating the facts, trying to point out that it isnt so complicated and he can keep up…Edwards staring…Hmmm..well the way i see it, he is trying to figure her out, cant put a finger on it but thinks of her the same as she thinks of the cullens, “they are different just dont seem to fit in” Thats just how i see it..
